CNet: HRP-4C girlbot grooves with go-go dancers
Were it not for the knobby-kneed metallic gams, it might be hard to tell which of the five dancers in flouncy yellow minidresses is the robot. But there she is, Yamaha's HRP-4C, headlining a performance called "Dance Robot LIVE! - HRP-4C Cybernetic Human" at Tokyo's Digital Content Expo over the weekend...Reportedly designed to look like an average Japanese woman between the ages of 19 and 29, HRP-4C has 30 motors in her body that allow her to walk and move her arms and 8 facial motors for blinking, smiling, expressing emotions akin to anger and surprise--and, apparently, working it like a pop star...more...

Fuck the Terminator...humanity is destined to be overtaken by pre-pubescent schoolgirl robots whose choice of inflicting fatalities will not be "shoot to death," but "cute to death." Yech....

Sorry, haven't been able to keep up with recent threads. If it's already somewhere else then this one should be moved.

Sorry, my bad. It's just that "weird us out and slay us by fear through exposure to wasted billions spent on fulfilling some perverted otaku's pedophilic fantasties to death" doesn't quite rhyme as well with "shoot" as "cute" does.

Hey, don't lump Take and I together on this! Come to think of it, it's okay in this case. The halogram looks better than the organics!

No, they're proportionately even bigger than that. To me they look almost double the size of an average guy's hand - they look like weapons. That and the too-small 10-year-old retarded child face are really weird; the legs are a little out of proportion, too, (or maybe she just needs to be a little more ganimata?)

This robot freaks me out...Not that I advocate a return to the "good old days" of rape, plunder and lopping peasants' heads off to test whether the sword blade is sharp enough, but I am getting kinda nostalgic for the time when Japan seemed to have balls as "hordes of automaton salarymen" paid exorbitant prices for gold courses and shoddy movie companies and bragged about taking over the whole world, having already captured electronics markets by making super cool consumer goods...
...OK, the Japanese still have automatons, but now they're little girls dressed in yellow pastel nighties and putting on a show that's the East Asian capitalist equivalent of a Kim Jong Ill tribute song.
To borrow a phrase from Charlton Heston: We finally really did it. You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you. God damn you all to hell!

STOP PRESS : it's the year 2010, and robots are still shit !

Aren't there enough mindless automata performing unemotionally to sets of instructions written by Oyajis in the Japanese pop charts as it is ?

Skynet is coming and stamped on its brain box is the phrase, "Made in Japan".
