The 20-something kid I sit next to at my boring job orifice is in a really similar situation. He's also a Buddhist priest and working in finance on his way to an MBA before he plans to leave the ratrace upon turning 30 to take over his old man's temple.
I knew there was something strange about him because he's neither a lecher, drunkard or lazy, all of which I had previously assumed were prerequisites for becoming a priest (or person of the cloth in any faith, for that matter...). And he can speak nearly flawless English despite never staying overseas for more than a couple of weeks on trips.
He actually lives like a religious person...and that's a miracle in my books. I hope Matsumoto is the same type.

If you are able to have a candid talk with to those who have inherited the family 'business', very few of them speak in the reverential spiritual manner that the previous poster indicated of his co-worker or see on TV. It's not just a business but if done correctly, a tax-free one at that. A few degrees removed from the carnies but a lot more respectable.

Mulboyne,
Thanks for this post. I forwarded it to the aforementioned bozu and the pair are already in touch.
As TennoChinko mentioned, religion is a tax-free business, so I hope my karma gets shined upon for introducing the boddhistvapreneurs and I end up by being rewarded with my own Shoko Asahara-like scheme where I can roll in the cash and shag myself silly with birds of my choice seeking a divine intervention. God bless cults!!!!!!!!

Yep, that's pretty much where the money goes when you throw coins in the osaisen box for New Years.
