Tokyo to Nagoya in 40 Minutes

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:28 pm

Yomiuri: Govt may OK direct Tokyo-Osaka maglev line
The transport ministry is likely to adopt a direct route for the maglev train line that Central Japan Railway Co. will build between Tokyo and Osaka because of its cost-effectiveness. The route would pass through a tunnel bored through a mountain in the Southern Japanese Alps...JR Tokai hopes to open the new maglev train line between Tokyo's Shinagawa Station and Nagoya in 2027, and the maglev line between Tokyo and Osaka in 2045. The firm expects the direct route to connect Tokyo and Nagoya in 40 minutes, shortening the travel time by about one hour as Shinkansen trains now cover the distance in about 100 minutes. The focal point of the subcommittee's discussions will now center on whether JR Tokai will be able to bear the financial burden for such a long-term project...more...

I wonder if Japan's economy will still be able to support such an ambitious project by that time...

Still, the construction alone should keep a lot of people in a job... construction of yet another separate railtrack from Osaka to Tokyo, mostly consisting of tunnels suitable of shifting maglevs at over 500 km/h. Fucking awesome.

if they kick all the FGs and halfus out i doubt it. they might be able to expand, but they would be even more inbred then they are now.

Only problem is...who the hell wants to go to Nagoya!?

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Well, if the city removed the final four letter of its name, I'm sure it would serve as a perfect magnet for all my ex-wives, as well as my mother and boss.

Hoist on my own petard....that'll teach me for being a Grammar Nazi....never said I was a Spelling Nazi or Math Nazi, though.

Corrected smart-arse post below....
