The film version of Max Brooks' "World War Z", mentioned in that piece, is currently in production. Part of the book details events in Japan following the zombie panic where a blind hibakusha leads some resistance. Sequences will have to be dropped from the film and I'd guess Japan might be one since it isn't central to the overall narrative. Then again, the producers might have an eye on the international market and keep it in.

I enjoyed the book. The abridged audio version is up on YouTube if anyone wants to search it out.
