An increasing number of Japanese military personnel are killing themselves for reasons the country's Defense Agency says are unclear, the Asahi newspaper reported on its Web site, citing the agency. ...Many members of Japan's so-called Self-Defense Forces are committing suicide at a time when civilians are also killing themselves in increasing numbers because of economic hardship. The Defense Agency says it isn't clear why service members are doing so because their livelihoods aren't changed by an economic slump..

That would explain their emotions, even though they make no logical sense whatsoever! (i.e. "I'm scared of being killed, so I'll kill myself first, so then I don't have to fear anyone else doing it!")

Maybe the forces are just bored? I hear they are really itching to go out and do UN related stuff but can't because of the constitution and the politicians who don't want to mess with it.

We only recently saw a fistfight in the diet over Iraq.....
