Fujiya unveils singing and dancing robot version of 'Peko-chan' mascot
The Mainichi Daily News | 2010 Nov. 2
Major confectioner Fujiya Co. unveiled a singing and dancing robot version of its mascot "Peko-chan" on Nov. 1, in celebration of its centennial year in business and the 60th anniversary of the character's "birth."
The "Peko-chan Robot," about 110 centimeters in height, can speak 357 words and make conversation with people, offering some 2 million different dialogue combinations. For instance, when asked, "What are you good at?" the robot replies, "I'm good at singing." It can also provide quizzes, sing Fujiya's TV commercial song and dance by shaking its head and swinging its arms.
The Peko-chan robot is on display at the admission-free "Ginza Peko-chan Museum"...in the Fujiya Ginza Building...
