There used to be a shop full of stuff on Takeshita-dori in Harajuku...I think it might still be there...

GC, I believe you're thinking of a store called "Live" in Harajuku, which has a pretty big Astroboy section. I bought a really cool AB tote bag there a couple years ago.. and later forgot it somewhere. So, on my next trip over I got an even niftier AB bowling style bag from there.. expensive, but SOOOOO NICE!

Japanese scientists is planning to turn science fiction into science fact by creating a humanoid robot with the same mental, physical and emotional powers as a 5-year-old....Computational Neuroscience Laboratories at the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International, wants to promote Japanese science and technology by attempting to develop an Astro Boy-like robot.

He and his colleagues are calling on the government to spend 50 billion yen annually on the 30-year program, which has been dubbed ''the Atom Project'' ... aims at producing a humanoid robot having the capabilities of a 5-year-old child in all aspects, including motion, intelligence and feelings.

I forgot to mention that I searched for about an hour for this store. I asked a dozen or more people and one guy knew what I was talking about but his directions were dreadful.
