The English translation leaves out namaiki and wagamama. And I would translate nikumareteiru as "hated" or "despised" rather than "not held in high regard".
His [Brendan Behan's] last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, "God bless you, may your sons all be bishops."

Because of Haneda's expansion, I doubt there is enough air traffic into the Kanto area to warrant adding yet more capacity with civil-military dual-use of Yokota Air Base.

Not so tacit admission of who calls the shots - the power behind the throne - at least in the mind of Binky.

The US military in Japan lives rent free in his head.
Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

Blinky wouldn't look at all out of place driving around in a black truck festooned with hinomaru flags and outfitted with a powerful sound system.

No kidding. He's such a little prick. He probably thinks all manner of Highly Placed People in the US Govt are still fuming about "A Japan that Can Say 'No'"

I'd like someone to organize another march on his house, like the one that was broken up by the cops in Shibuya some months back. Better yet, I'd like to see someone oppose him for Mayor and call him out on his scammy little bank and the billions it cost Tokyo taxpayers.

-catone
-didn't he once say that his resentment toward the Americans derived from the fact that when he was a kid, he was eating an ice cream cone and an Air Force plane swooped down low ovehead and caused him to drop it?

No, no, no...it was a perfectly good translation. There was the Japanese version for the Japanese and the censored, watered-down version for foreigners that would not leave a bad taste in their mouths and spoil their impression of Japan. In fact, that's perfect translation by Japanese standards.

I heard a similar story way back when. A US soldier took his ice cream and ate it. Although he would have been at least 13 for there to be GIs walking around Japan. Maybe he got laughed at by a GI just as he was getting his first erection?
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

Might as well round my list of ma-ke-hara talking points up to ten:

3. He rocks a shichi-san 'do, but confounds the CW by demonstrating how it can look good!

2. He's not nicknamed "Knock."

1. He never comes to my botox parties - Blinky! There's a cure!
