Bloody kids these days ...

This is a real disappointment. I watched his poor dad (an excellent Kabuki actor) giving a humiliating press conference yesterday trying to explain what happened, or what he believed happened. Ebizo has just gotten too big for his boots and is way too irresponsible for his age, and his distinguished profession. Time for a slapdown.

Yesterday the story was that he was drinking with a bunch of people he'd never met before, and got into a fight with them. Later there was something about it being bunch of bososoku guys. So he was drinking with bosozoku? And now it's a foreigner?

Actually, there are probably plenty of people who thought he needed a "talking to" when he shagged and dumped Sato Eriko and/or Yonekura Ryoko. ;)

I think we do not know the full/real story. It's probably something darker than we might expect.

ZakZak has started to speculate along those lines (Japanese). They a drawing parallels with Asashoryu's bust-up and suggesting there might be a a Roppongi cabal who cause trouble for celebrities in the area.

Nothing in today's TV news or gossip about it being a foreigner. It has now become "a friend of a friend," which means the attacker will be easy to find.

Ebizo has filed with the police, and the case is now under official investigation.

He claims that when things looked as though they were going to get nasty he fled, but the attacker(s) followed him outside and it was then that he was hit.

I expect a few more variations before things get sorted out.

it will end up that like this.

he saw some FG's wherever the fug he was at. the FGs left with some girls they picked up after he was drunk boasting him self about.

then some yaks come in and sit next to him and get him a plastered. now they try to get money out of him, he spouts off and gets in a bad position with the yaks. then the yaks take him out and kick the shit out of him and take whatever he has on him.

the next day he only remembers the FGs he saw take the j-girls he wanted to bang and decides to blame them for his fuck up.

he does a half ass bow and apologizes to the FGs for him being drunk and blaming FGs for his stupidity.

yaks keep their ass covered and his career takes a little dip.

end of story.

So now the claim is that the guy who beat Ebi-chan up is [url=http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20101130-00000040-sph-ent
]a half who looks like Bob Sapp.[/url]

Yeah, I'm sure he looks just like him.

This story just gets dumber and dumber.

By the way, I thought Bob Sapp looked like Eddie Murphy. I heard AO does too.

Now they've identified his dance partner as a half-Japanese 2nd-tier J-leaguer (and former bosozoku) who looks like Dennis Rodman.

I hope the fact there is now an arrest warrant out for the perp might remind people that Ichikawa was a victim here. I know he is supposed to have acted like an arsehole, and he played truant from his professional responsibilities, but he wasn't doing anything illegal, as far as we know.

It's one thing to think "serves you right", it's another to demand apologies and grovelling. I'm never very comfortable with a culture which appears sometimes to blame victims for their troubles. It's one reason some girls don't complain about chikan on the train.

Not to mention rape.

Anyway, it sounds like Ichikawa got one hell of beating.

Not illegal (as far as we know ... yet), but Ebizo was definitely in a gray zone, and that's going to create problems for him. A smashed up face could be the least of his worries.

Bosozoku groups are basically pre-school for the yakuza. At some levels ... particularly the guys who stick with it past the kiddies-riding-around-on-genchari phase .. they overlap. You know how Japanese society treats celebs who are found to be hobnobbing with the yaks. Having bosozoku drinking buddies is pretty darn close, and unless some serious damage control is put into effect Ebizo's career could be in jeopardy.

If so, what a stupid way to terminate a potentially brilliant career.

Hanging with the anti-social element (yaks-to-be, or possibly fully fledged yaks, but almost certainly with yak connections).
Yak connections have put the brakes on quite a few celebrity careers in the past.

Fuji TV is stalking him now. They don't really get a shot of his injuries, even when he takes his mask off, so any damage must be on the left side of his face.

Ebizo's position is getting shakier as more eyewitness reports come to light (mostly from people who were staffing the places where the trouble occurred). Much of the info directly contradicts Ebizo's account of several important details. So either the eyewitnesses have the story wrong, Ebizo was so drunk that really doesn't know what happened, or he's lying.

Although Ebizo claims that he was attacked while "taking care of" the very drunk bosozoku leader (now being called the "former" bosozoku leader), everyone who saw what was going on disputes that claim, saying that he was being abusive, trying to get the "former" bosozoku leader to drink more, and being somewhat physical about it. It might turn out that it was Ebizo who initiated the physical violence.

Don't know'em. Don't care. But Jesus H. the amount of coverage the media is playing it for. The guy don't sound like anyone that should be admired, so why are people so shocked that the guy is a bad drunk with some dodgy friends.
