Who is the person behind the avatar?

After a reading another thread in this forum, I realized that the active users here are a lot more diverse then I thought. When I think "gaijin-forum", I picture 95% of the users being men, mostly in their twenties. But clearly(and luckily) I was wrong! This realization has made me want to use this forum even more. And due to this new "spark", I've also become interested in knowing a little more about the active users here. Personally, I think forums get better when one get to know more about the users. I know anonymity is golden on sites like these, but a little information couldn't hurt? If I'm not mistaken, some of you already know each other?

I'm mostly thinking about age, sex and nationality. Those who feel like doing it, can of course add more information.

If there is a forum where only members can view the posts, the feeling of anonymity will not fade completely. It could be smart to move this thread to that forum.

People on here meet in the real world quite often and as we go our separate ways in this wide world, we can gather here and keep up with each others news.

I think most of the old timers here have met at least one other member in person at least once.

I reinforce nihonjinron(ism), even giving them quizzes to see if they remember important holidays. For example, "what day is Dec. 25th what day is Dec. 24th, and what day is Dec. 23." I love watching their faces light up over the 24th and 25th, and then watching how dumb they look scrambling over the significance of Dec. 23rd, then, either scolding them or encouraging them if they know the correct answer. I'd say they are receiving a valuable education from me just from that fact alone. I've been doing that for years, in addition to teaching them useful English. For me to leave, would be removing someone who contributes to the spiritual and moral welfare of the country. You should know better!
