Sony Handycam DCR-TRV22K

Postby Big Booger » Sat Aug 23, 2003 11:29 pm

I just bought that camera. Came with an 8Mb Flash card, Composite cables, remote, Tripod, battery, etc..

I got it for 73600 yen with a 3 year warranty. The 8MB flash card records about 1minute 20 seconds of footage. They have cards up to 512MB. It also accepts DV microtapes. The microtapes record about 1hour 25 minutes worth of footage or so. Has the nightshot feature that lets you shoot in the dark. Lots of goodies. The LCD screen rotates and swivels, and is vibrant. It has a 120X digital Carl Zeis Vario-Sonnar Zoom lens. The camera connects over USB, but has the firewire, RCA, and S-video ports for further connectivity.

I got the gunmetal grey version. It weights 530 grams, and fits nicely in the palm of your hand. The zoom is real sweet. Audio recording is 2 channel, both right and left. It has a space for a separate light if we ever decide to purchase one.

It is a lower-end Sony but it was on sale, so I got it. :D

What is the benefit of using CF instead of DV? Is the video timestamped?

CF is extremely expensive. :D DV is cheap.

CF can only go up to 1GB or so.

I just tested it with the flash card, and there was no timestamp.

I found a damn fine review of it as well:
