You're right on Pearse, but with a test or something of that nature, it has a implied meaning of its so hard, or bad, it makes one sick i.e. girls see something they don't like, or get sick, its a kimochi warui thing, now shortened to the kimoi slang. It is sometimes probably used with "That kusojiji," or so I've heard....

I am extremely and embarassed to attempt to correct a man with your time here on the block and cultural knowledge of the country and Japanese people and where the daughter could use it as in your example, sadly it is not sissy girl talk. It is used equally by boys and girls of the younger set. It is not used by older people.

Actually, kimoi did mean liver in classic Japanese...and I bet Saria is reading the story of the monkey and the turtle from Konjaku Monogatari, which is all about kimoi liver.....
