Bud Brick

Postby sundowner » Sat Feb 05, 2011 11:27 am

Hi. I wonder if anyone here remembers Bayard R. (Bud) Brick, owner of Eri's Cabin, a bar that used to be in Roppongi, President of the Japan Darts Federation, and stalwart and co-founder of the Belial Symposium which used to meet in the late Jerry Hegarty's Rising Sun in Yotsuya.

I don't know if he's alive or dead, or still in Japan or not. He would be about 75.

While on the subject, I would also like to know the fate of Bill Stubbs, a former Colonial Policeman, a native of Jamaica, and a cohort of Bud's in all the above activities. He would be older than Bud.

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Bill Stubbs finally hung 'em up a couple of years ago. He had his ashes scattered at sea per a request he had made some years back at his 70th birthday party which was held at the Takenawa Prince Hotel, which was a routine drunken, pint swilling, barfing event, where an access amount of rum (Bill's poison of choice) was also consumed. In other words, your basic Bill Stubbs get together. A couple of his mates from the University of London also made it to the bash.
RIP Bill. Sorry, but don't know the fate of Bud. He seems to have just dropped under the radar.

Ha ... I knew Stubbs too. Quite a guy. RIP.

I was wondering what had become of Bud and Eri myself. I was a bit of a regular at the Cabin back in the day. I've tried Googling a few times, but nothing comes up. If anyone knows, I'd be interested as well.

The last I heard was that he had returned to the United States.
