Police have arrested 42 year old Yoshitaka Usaji on suspicion of stalking. Usaji was introduced to a 36 year old woman through the Unification Church and became engaged to her in a Moonie betrothal ceremony. She later had second thoughts and left the cult. Between June and November last year, Usaji accosted her on the street in Shinjuku and Suginami wards five times, walking alongside her and saying he wanted to talk to her. It turned out that Usaji had placed a GPS tracker underneath her car and was monitoring her whereabouts on his mobile phone. When arrested, he denied being a stalker. Police have seized over 80 items, including notebooks and PCs, from his home.
