LAN party interest?

Postby WarlocK » Thu Aug 28, 2003 1:58 pm

I'm trying to gauge the interest in a LAN party in the Osaka area, I still don't have any major details worked out (like where and when) but I wanted everyone's opinions.

So, would you be interested? What games would you want to play? What time or how much time could you (or would you want to) spend at the party?

And finally, does anyone have some hardware that they would be able to lend for the event? I have a router and a laptop, but I'm thinking that more hubs/routers would be needed, and probably a dedicated box for a game server.

Games I have and could setup a server for are:

Quake (1-3)
Half-life (and any mod, i.e. C-S or DoD)
Warcraft 3
Starcraft
Diablo (1 and 2 I think)
Mechwarrior (anybody still play this one?)
Tribes 2
plus some others that my roommates have and I just don't have the list in front of me right now

I also have a GCN and some good multiplayer games (in particular Soul Calibur 2 and F-Zero GX).

So lemme know if you are interested.

Mmmm...Warcraft III! I blew hours of my time on that game (had to cheat quite a lot on the last few missions because it was taking so damn long). I'm already thinking of purchasing the expansion pack.

Read legal question in Gaijin Getto, I think it should be called a 'parallel backup'.
I am the person that coined the term 'parrallel backup' just now.

The biggest problem with LAN parties is just getting your stuff there. I hosted some back home and they were always hell. Just email everybosy to play online at a certain time. there are also free servers that you can book.

Nobody can beat me at unreal tournament. Kommandent will own all you noobs.

Also official LAN parties arnt much fun very expensive and you have to format all the porn off your computer. I got fed up so I bought a load of removable drives he he.

SOF2 is a great LAN party game (especialy if you are good at wall hacking and aim bot scripting) Amerikan Army was pretty good for a while(Very easy to script an aim bot using excel) all unreals, also race games can be pretty good.

You have to make sure everybody has a software licence at least in a parrallel universe.

Also if you have a shity computer everybody will laugh.

If you monitor is small everybody will laugh.

If you case dont have a wolfenstein sticker everybody will laugh.

if you didnt build your computer by yourself everybody will laugh even your granny.

if you dont have a least gig of ram I will laugh.

if you have a gforce below 4 or ati 9700 everybody will laugh.

Still want to go ahead?

New demos are often the best as good players can play any game. If you play Quake all the Unreal players will hate you and vice versa. Get new demos you dont need a licence. Get raven shield Demo its shit hot for LAN and very technical no noobs will survive 10 seconds.
