Japan Treatment Angers Fischer Companion
Forbes, Nov 30, 2006
... "I prefer not to talk about private things," said Ms. Watai, who is in Qatar to manage Japan's chess team at the Asian Games. ..
...While he was in Japanese custody, Fischer and Watai, who is also head of the Japan chess association, got engaged. At a news conference before leaving Japan, she denied allegations the engagement was a ploy to confound Japanese immigration officials, saying Fischer was her king and she wanted to be his queen.
So did they ever tie the knot?
"I'd rather not say," Watai said Thursday in a rare interview with The Associated Press. "I live in Japan now...."...

Controversial former world chess champion Bobby Fischer has died aged 64, Iceland's national radio has said.
The US-born player had been seriously ill for some time.
He was granted Icelandic citizenship in 2005, as a way to avoid being deported to the country of his birth, the US.

I love natto, brown rice, and miso!! (&#12362]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_rice[/URL]

BTW, fermented and picked foods are typically the best, since they pack the most flavour! I came across a couple of episodes of the Moyashimon (もやしもん) anime on youtube, which focused on microbes and fermentation, and got very hungry.

Classic Bobby F:

Bobby on the Jews
Bobby Fischer: This is, they, they did this all behind my back.
Pablo Mercado: Umhum.
B.F.: Nobody contacted me--nothing.
P.M.: All right.
B.F.: Nobody contacted my lawyers--nothing. The fucken Jews want to destroy everything I've worked for all of my life.
P.M.: What, what--
B.F.: There was no holocaust the Jews are liars. It's time we took off the kid gloves with these parasites.
P.M.: All right with, with all of these things Mr., uh, Fischer what do you intend to do now?
B.F.: I intend to do what I'm doing right now.
P.M.: What?
B.F.: --Which is to expose the Jews for the criminals they are, the parasites they are, the liars they are, the thieves they are, the murderers they are.

Bobby Fischer – his final weeks
Chessbase.com / 25.01.200
...His wife Miyoko Watai flew in from Japan to spend the Christmas season with him. She flew back home on January 10th, just before Fischer passed. Miyoko practically had to take the next flight back to Iceland to attend his funeral.
Fischer stayed in an appartment in the same building as his closest friend and spokesman, Garðar (Gardar) Sverrisson, whose wife Krisín happens to be a nurse and looked after the terminally ill patient. Gardar's two children, especially his son, were very close to Bobby. They were his only close friends and contacts during the last two years of his life....he did not wish anyone to be present at the funeral, except Miyoko Watai and the Sverrisson family, who would arrange the funeral. For this reason the burial took place in secret last Monday.
There has been some controversy regarding the "secret" burial of Bobby Fischer. The members of the the RFJ Committee, who were instrumental in obtaining Fischer's release from Japanese detention, and being granted refuge in Iceland, were not informed about the burial until it had been completed on Monday morning. Only five people attended the funeral, in accordance with Fischer's wishes. Some of his friends are now claiming that the burial was unlawful. They are calling into question the marital status of Miyoko Watai, who they say could not be Fischer's wife since he did not have a passport at the time of their alleged marriage in Japan. If Miss Watai was not his wife, they argue, then she and Sverrisson had no right to carry out the burial without seeking the permission of his estate's legal representatives. There is the additional matter of money: Fischer's Swiss bank account is thought to have held about £1.5 million, and there may be more in gold deposits. All of this is reported today in the Telegraph, UK, which speaks of a 'guerrilla' burial.....

She was legally his wife as of April 2005. After that, I don't know...the marriage did come through the legal system here and was approved just days after Fischer left for Iceland.

That was Bobby's last outburst. The Swiss banks got sick of Fischer's anti-semitic tirades, and exercised their right to do business (or not) with whoever they choose. They chose not to do business with him. So they sent all his assets to some other bank, including his gold, and told him where to claim it. Fischer had a fit, and demanded they return his money back to the Swiss bank. They refused.
The money is all there, it's not gone, it just wasn't where Fischer put it. Nothing got confiscated, as far as I can tell.

Looks like the Fish-man liked to spread the love...

A Filipino woman and her daughter are claiming a share of the estate of late American-born chess legend Bobby Fischer, a lawyer said on Wednesday.

Samuel Estimo told Reuters he was gathering documents and evidence to prove that Fischer had a daughter with Marilyn Young in 2001. He said the reclusive chess master had left a $1.95 million estate.

"I have with me a copy of the passports, pictures and bank accounts of Fischer's seven-year-old daughter," Estimo said, adding he would file a claim in Iceland.

"I believe we have substantial proof to back the claims of Marilyn Young and her daughter Jinky. They even stayed with him in Iceland for three weeks in September 2005."

Two nephews and a Japanese woman, who claimed to have married the reclusive chess master, are also contesting Fischer's estate. Washington was also trying to recover money from Fischer in back taxes, Estimo said.

I feel bad that the Filipina, Marilyn Young, who claimed to have a daughter with Fischer (if it was true), was totally ignored in this estate claim. It's not like moneybags-Watai san really needs this inheritance.
