Any Americans planning to go? I want to but my J wife, who is a nurse, wants to stay. Her reasons are she doesn't want to lose her job and the nursely duty to take care of her patients.

Is this one of those deals where they put you on C140 transport planes and you get dropped off with a parachute?

We did that once when I was in Boy Scouts and it's a pretty good deal except there are no inflight cocktails. (Just kidding about the parachute part)

I did that once Muenster Germany to Manchester England and it was damn good deal---Even as a civilian, the flight cost me only $22 for 684.2 kilometres (425.1 air miles)! And, there was 2m of legroom.

I imagine there's a pretty good chance of being stuck at the airport for a long time, even overnight. Narita isn't a 24 hour airport, I think. Kind of a silly question, but do they kick you out at night? Or can you stay in the airport overnight on a bench or something? JR stations shutter up. Do the airports?

Unless you're planning on leaving permanently, leaving now means you'll receive more radiation from the flight than just staying put.

The real problem is long-term: cesium and possibly plutonium contamination of both the water and food supply. Imagine a 21st century version of the Roman army sewing salt into the ground of her enemies.

narita airport is this giant shell shaped thing that has a cool train. the seats are the ones that don't have arms on them. they are very well padded, however the floor is even more comfortable. also, there is a secure and free area where u can leave your baggage. terminal 'b' is easier to sleep in. they have good free tv sets everywhere, and it is generally quiet. the food is overpriced and disgusting, as is the beer (watered down of course) they serve. the bathrooms are nightmares, though. the women cleaners enter at any time and enjoy watching you urinate. Thanks, tidbits. I looked at the site and FG thread and it looks like you can stay overnight at Haneda and Narita but the security are not overly friendly and herd the overnighters into one area and keep an eye on them. They also asked some people to see their passports. But they don't kick you out.
