Kyoto Looks at "Radiation-Free" Certificates for Food Exports

Postby Mulboyne » Fri Apr 01, 2011 8:58 am

There's an item in the Kyoto Shimbun (Japanese) saying how Japanese food exports are being hit hard by the radiation scare in Fukushima. It's affecting produce from outside affected areas and even goods which were produced before the earthquake hit. Consquently, Kyoto is looking at the possibility of introducing some form of certification to reassure buyers.

After the endless demonizing of foreign food products by the Japanese agri-establishment, you can't help concluding that there's a bit of karmic retribution at work here...

sadly, I still won't buy their products because they may get irradiated anyways on the way out of Japan.
