In other news... Dad in law will certainly kill me tomorrow.

I installed this

To cover half properly the building I had to put no less than 6 for 4 floors...

But with the thickness of the walls only NHK radio can be received reliably (instead of the local radios who might not relay all the alerts nationwide)... And 5 minutes ago all the alarms went on... (lose lose situation)

This little M7.4 "aftershock" was bigger than '95 Kobe quake. :bounce:

Also, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico just now!

Onnagawa nuclear plant has apparently lost external power to two of the three reactors.
Edit- 2 of the 3 external power sources are down.

What did one tectonic plate say to another after the quake?

Not my fault!

Power's out again, but my UPS is still up.
Another sleepless night, methinks.

NHK world, it's a bit unclear whether the plant had been shut down since March 11 though. I'm a little confused.

Yeah, wikipedia report the plant as being in cold shutdown since the March 11 quake.

And Reuter say they won't restart before summer:

But it seems that Tepco can manage a radioactive meltdown from anything more dangerous than bottled water...

Live report by NISA was no damage there, and Fukushima was not affected either. Thanks for info. We can take a breath, now :)

(Even after shutdown, continuous cooling is required for months)

HAARP? Is that you? That ball of light looks familiar.

Power back on at 4 AM!
Only 4-1/2 hours. A bit better than 5 days last time.
Didn't lose water this time either (except for the people who pissed their pants).

People are noticing that the largest aftershock has often occurred 26 days after a large quake.

EDIT: A couple of examples:
* 1983, central Sea of Japan, M7.7 -> 26 days later M7.1.
* 1993, off the southwest coast of Hokkaido, M7.8 -> 26 days later M6.3 .
There are more but I couldn't be arsed right now.

1 month ago the biggest full moon, now this... getting difficult not to think that the gravitationnal pull that give us tides don't help also a bit to trigger quakes when they are already packing up steam...

Have to go, i think i've seen a shape shifting reptilian GW Bush in mah parking...

Really 'Hammer, you have power? Nothing here yet. Not sure what today will hold for us. I'm guessing no schools will open. Oh well I'll try and catch up on the sleep I lost last night.

Yeah, isn't that a bummer! I didn't even get to my use my new generator!
No power in Hachinohe yet eh? You have water?

I know how you feel sleep-wise. I think I got about 30 minutes at the most. Feel like a zombie.
