Keitai "communication dependence syndrome"

ImageModern living and its modern addictions
Yomiuri Weekly /Aug 6
...Cell-phone text messaging comes to mind as one example. Nowadays, the sight of women absent-mindedly tapping out text messages on their phones on the street or on the train has become increasingly common.
But when taken to the point of addiction, the use of e-mails and cell-phones falls under Sakai's category of "communication dependence syndrome."
Most people who become dependent on such devices do not like talking face-to-face with others and try to avoid potentially stressful interactions with other people.
...many emerging syndromes related to modern living, including "netaholism" and "digital-camera addiction." They also cited cases of "brand addiction" and described people who become dependent on health products as victims of "supplement addiction."

Website forum text messaging comes to mind as one example. Nowadays, the sight of gaijin absent-mindedly tapping out text messages on their PCs in the living room or at the office has become increasingly common.

But when taken to the point of addiction, the use of e-mails and website forums posting falls under Sakai's category of "communication dependence syndrome."

Not that we would know anything about this would we? :D

I'm not addicted: this is my life. H3Y, Meatspace iZ 4 L00sers. :biggrin2:

Seeking automaton boyfriend

"I have no luck with men," confessed Kaori, 28, a systems engineer. A university graduate and gung-ho career woman with baby-faced good looks, Kaori suffers no shortage of male admirers.

However, she has never achieved a satisfying relationship. She tends to break up with her boyfriends soon after their relationship begins.

Dull, sluggardly, indecisive men are to blame, she said. She quickly becomes irritated when she sees a man just hovering over the choice between milk and lemon to put in his tea. Her former boyfriends tended to drift away
