Beach Bum Public Servants

Postby Mulboyne » Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:13 am

The Environment Ministry is recommending companies turn down the air conditioning this summer and let staff wear polo shirts at work but Kosai in Shizuoka is considering more drastic steps. City officials believe power constraints mean it won't be enough to turn down the settings, they may have to switch it off completely. In which case, they may allow staff to wear shorts, t-shirts and sandals at work.

I thought sandals already were a part of Japanese public servants' uniforms...

If (and that's a big if in this cuntry) this comes into effect (and I'm all for it in every workplace), I call for immediate life sentences with no parole to be handed down to any middle-aged men wearing shorts with shin-high socks and either sandals or leather shoes.

If this happens (and as SDH put it, a big "if"), those are going to be some mighty stinky town offices... :melt:
I seem to recall the whole "cool biz" thing being deemed a failure as people would all put electric fans on their desks to counter the rise in temperature (which ended up using as much, if not more power). And this of course negated the point behind cool biz, which was to reduce power consumption in the first place.
You can be sure that every single worker in the town offices will have a little fan whizzing away on their desk as soon as the A/C gets cut.

I though it wuz jembe... pretty cool stuff actually... I send some Homel4nd side, got some success...

But... with the number of arrogant architect making buildings like solar oven claiming that they compensate the heat with aircooling... It's not gonna work and might even kill some people...

Maybe Tanaka-Lemming will realise that years of "shoganai" against governemnt corruption and incompetence, leading to Fukushima's meltdown and over use of "shit in face of the earth" wastefull technologies and designs (*) results now in dead Tanaka-Lemmings... And...

and...

Nothing... because TIJ... and it will be another type of shoganai...

(*) while claiming save gaia(**) love the earth and be as respectfull of the planet as us the superior Japanese...

(**) you know the theory of the benevolent mother earth... from people who clearly never heard of australia where even the trees will kill you on sight...

This is going to be a loooong torturous summer! Yipes! Well, good thing after my last vacation in Cali, I loaded on the Deo, soaps, body soaps and other great hygiene products. I'm ready! Just hope some of these salarymen and women at least take a shower in the morning before getting on the trains, standing shoulder to shoulder, that would help quite a bit.

Fucking hate this country's fear of AC ...

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Wed Jun 01, 2011 1:56 pm

Even if you're in shorts and a t-shirt, sitting in an office all day in the summer would be brutal. Especially if you have a computer at your desk.

As for cool biz, I heard there was a study that showed that it lead to a noticeable drop in productivity because everyone is the office is so uncomfortable. The worst part is that J people seem to think that setting the AC to 28 degrees (which is bad enough) is the same as keeping the office temperature at 28 degrees. Often it's a whole lot hotter in the office than that.

I was just thinking (I know, bloody dangerous, but...) this cuntry carries out these bullshite, pointless campaigns to save power and cut CO2 emissions, but how much is being wasted by not having daylight savings?
I argue that this cuntry is already an hour behind what it should be in the first place and should move a further hour ahead from say Golden Week through to maybe the Sports Day long weekend in October.
I am the stupidest maths fuck in the world (utterly bewildered by anything out of single figures, except perhaps the number 10), but even I worked out bloody daylight savings.
I think the phobia toward this is disgraceful environmental policy, especially now (admittedly, you can't create exciting, irradiated Forbidden Zones with more sunlight, but it does make it easier for concrete to dry if there's more light during working hours...).
Don't the Japanese realize they're putting themselves on the same level as Queenslanders? Then again, Blinky does remind me of Joh Bjelke-Peterson(For our Merican audience, he's the bastard Australian love child that resulted from the group session between George Wallace, Jesse Helms, Jerry Fallwell, David Duke and Strom Thurmond).

Here's a feature showing the Super Cool Biz styles of staff at the environment Ministry. The guy in the Hawaiian shirt has a few other reasons to want to dress down.
