Did a quick search, but only found results in Tokyo. Anyway, I may be hanging up my tsunagi for a while and getting a job in an office (Not as bad as it sounds). Anyway, I'm 90KG and 190CM and will be needing a new wardrobe full of suitable office wear. Anyone know a place in Nagoya/Aichi that stocks gaijin sizes? Going to need a few suits, shirts etc. Any ideas? or do I have to make the trip to Tokyo?
When I wore suits often I usually got them made at Dankan, a chain of places that does order made suits. They aren't completely custom tailoring jobs (done from a pattern) but they are made to your measurements, not rack suits that get adjustments done. Unfortunately they don't have a shop in Nagoya but there are probably similar sorts of places around.
Prices are determined by the material (higher quality stuff will last longer, wear better, be cooler, and also look better but of course cost more). Generally prices range from 20,000 for a cheap-ass suit to 50,000 for something that will look pretty good, and of course no upper limit on the top end if you really want to get crazy.
Your selection of materials might be a bit limited by your height (I'm 186cm tall and could only chose from the materials that can be used to make "king size" suits.) You can also get shirts made, usually for around 5,000yen each, and also spare slacks for the suits (slacks always seem to wear out first.) Custom made shirts are awesome. It was so awesome to have shirts with arms long enough without them being huge overall.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Was a mechanic for a Super GT team. Had enough of it now. Hours were waaayyy to long. No free time to enjoy life. So, now I'm interviewing for various office jobs, but interesting work, not yer usual shite.
Thanks for the advice on the suits. I had actually considered a break to Thai/Vietnam and including tailored clothes into the trip. Surprised at those prices quoted here. Seems reasonable for Japan!
