Ok. Think about this. As elegant a software company that Apple is, do you think they'd muck up the user experience that bad and not attempt to fix it?

It's a device, not a religion... I can't care less aboot a mags availability on the app store being rejected. You can browse for pr0n by yourself on the IPad, apple have no duty to be an active gateway for publisher. The appstore is not a zoo, if you want other software without using the appstore, jailbreak and use cydia... Sometimes you have to realise that devices are not an end by themselves but just tools. If a tool do a job -> it's good for me. If you buy an IPad for eroge games and complain aboot apple restrictions, it's like buying a car an complaining you can't cross a river. Sure maybe with tons of modification you'l be able to do it, but it's not a reason to complain against the maker because every possibly imaginable use (bordering on trollbaiting) is not available from the option catalog.

Out of all the minefield that my wintel computers are, I never once crashed ITunes, which is always opened at boot time even if I don't use it. seriously, check for the problem somewhere else.

Have you used a process manager on windows lately ? with logitech I need at least 4 TSR (yeah old term I know) for 3 devices...

I bring up a magazine dedicated to photography, new equipment, vacation spots that cater to photographers and I mention underwear, and YOU equate it to pornography. Are you on Apples censor board?

Tell me, do you boycott National geographic for having photos of womens breasts? YOU said Appke isn't a religion, so let's leave your hyper religious beliefs out of this.

It's not a religion, it's a cult. :p It needs to survive for another few centuries before it becomes a religion.

Whatever it's called... Let's make it moar simple so you don't hide behind semantics:

Ios: if there is a rule saying no boobs, no peener in apps. END OF STORY... Whatever you call it, be it Danika Patrick guide to carburetor cleaning, or super duper fun rape party #78, it's the same result. You don't like the rule... fine. You want to consider that having a 'no booby in apps sold through apple' restriction a good reason not to buy a product that is supposed to be a phone/micro personnal computer... well good for you...

Now, I love porn... a lot... but when a device is -task minded- like Audi's MMI, BMW iDrive, or an IOs device, my priority is to have it do its job first, foremost and properly... It could be turned as a case of liberty against security as it is an argument quite often abused these days. But for me, here, it's downright a case of reliability against functionality.

Coligny, I see the point you are making but I don't think your comparison with a car which doesn't ford rivers is entirely appropriate.

Apple is marketing the iPhone and iPad as your primary means of consuming all media, not as a means to consume Apple-approved media. It's more like selling a television where the manufacturer reserves the right to restrict which channels you can watch but won't tell you in advance how it intends to apply those restrictions.

The key difference is that Apple is not just a device maker, it is a service provider. Apple also runs commercial marketplaces in the form of itunes and the app stores. They have every right to run those marketplaces as they wish at the outset. However, if those marketplaces become dominant, they will lose that right under competition law, just as Microsoft lost the right to decide what software features formed the core of Windows. I don't think we've reached that point but it's not something that could happen to an automaker.

Good point Mul.

That is something which Apple doesn't have a lot of experience with, so it will be interesting how they evolve on this.
Then again, some app publishers do this, just forr linkbait.

Dude, old news but not entirely true. One of the US carriers (I forgot which one.. Verizon, Sprint, or ATT?) just announced the release of the CDMA version of iPhone on their network so people started speculating that Au, which is based on the similar CDMA, as another possible candidate for using iPhone.

Also, Au is currently too busy jizzing all over themselves with the Google phone commercials with Lady Gaga as the spokesgal.
[yt]XnePQcSipIk[/yt]

My advice to Au is DON'T do it. Just look at how iPhone bogged down kuSoftbank's network making it practically unusable.

From what I can find it looks like the 3G CDMA used by AU is compatible with Verizon's 3G CDMA. If this is in fact the case then it should be possible for AU to start selling the new CDMA iPhone here in Japan.

This doesn't mean they will of course, and AFAIK until now AU has not used SIM cards with their phones so it would be a departure for them. I can see how it would be an appealing product for them to start selling though...

I see couple of problems with that. One, you know that Softwank Son-of-a-bitch Masayoshi would suck Apple's dick and appeal to seclude other competitor mobile carriers with iPhones. Softwank is just another Japanese company that believes that competition is unnecessary and only hurts themselves even though the benefits to the consumers outweigh it.

Au and Docomo both know that having iPhone under their belt would increase their number of subscribers and benefit from it, but you have to see it as how anti- competitive the Japanese companies function in such a domain called the Galapagos Island. They have to protect the tiny (from global market perspective) and struggling phone handset manufacturers like NEC and Panasonic from going under like how Mitsubishi, Sanyo, and Toshiba did. By looking at how Softbank only advertises iPhone and none of the Japanese domestic brand phones, these domestic brands are pretty much fucked in the ass.

Au already has a fairly solid network infrastructure with par to Docomo's. I am sure if Au's network congestion spikes, they will allocate their funding to strengthen the infrastructure instead of spending on pointless commercials with a white dog.

GomiGirl may know more, but I informally consult for SoftBank from time to time. My impression with my shinnenkai with the SoftBank Strategy Group last January was that neither AU nor DoCoMo was going to start CDMA iPhone service in 2011.

The CDMA iPhone isn't compatible with DoCoMo's network so I can't see them selling it somehow. ;) They will however soon allow you to use an unlocked iPhone on their network, if they're not doing this already. (This could be an iPhone purchased in HK or SG, or one bought here that has been unlocked.)

I'm not saying that AU will start selling the CDMA iPhone anytime soon, just stating that from a compatibility standpoint it appears as though it would work on their network.

Swapping virginity for a phone probably seems pretty extreme to a lot of people but an iPhone is worth 3 or 4 months salary for a typical worker so I don't think it's a bad deal at all... Virginity is seriously overrated anyway IMO.

The article mentions a kid who sold his kidney for an iPad and cell phone... Now that is fucked up! It's not like after losing her virginity the girl can never have sex again but that kidney is never coming back. Unreal.
