Oil change - disposal of old oil

Postby Kanchou » Sat Jul 02, 2011 2:57 pm

Can anyone tell me where you can dispose of old motor oil in Japan?

And don't say "in a river" or "down a drain."

Take it to a gas stand.
I don't know about all gas stands, but some of 'em will take care of that for you. At least you can ask.

If it's 20 weight you can save big money on KY purchases....

Seriously, how much are we talking about here? If it is like an oil change for your car and you have a regular gas stand, they would normally take it off your hands gratis. If it is a larger amount, they should be able to advise you.

Any Autobacs or Yellow Hat will take it off your hands.

Especially the way waste disposal is here.

The Kanda River should be a good spot.

Oh...

You local Komeri will take it for around 100JPY. Also your Gas Stations, or I know for certain Showa Shell will take it.

Cut out the middle man and pour it directly on a seal.
