Agreed, besides the occasional lucky punch that KO's them and they hit their head on the curb... it takes some malice to actually kill someone.

4~8 vs 1 drunk....yeah, if he attacks you with that large of a group, restrain him and drag em to the nearest koban to collect your reward.

Well, I see forced confessions coming no matter what. These guys have no idea what's in store for them. Someone was killed and add to that equation a couple of foreigners, oh, you know full well, they will never see the light of day.
