Mid-day show "Waratte Iitomo!" (It's OK to Laugh!) has been on Fuji TV since 1982 but it now looks like the run will finish in March next year with host Tamori moving to a daytime spot on NTV. The decision may well have been Fuji's, however, and is probably down to falling ratings. Tamori himself got a mention in the 2003 Guinness Book of Records as the longest consecutive hosting of a TV show after its 5000th broadcast. A forerunner of the show went out live but "Waratte Iitomo" has always been pre-recorded at Shinjuku's Studio Alta. Expect some crowds near that venue for the final edition. It's been a regular venue for entertainers to promote their recent work but also has featured politicians, sports stars and the like. A few big overseas names have also appeared on the show although translation usually gets in the way.
