What's the penalty for this sort of willful endangerment? Let me guess...nothing.

It seems that the shit is much bigger than the fan can cope in one serving:

http://ex-skf.blogspot.com/2011/07/beef-from-fukushima-to-be-tested.html

There were messages from parents who had their children carry their own lunches and water bottles to schools and kindergartens, and the schools denied their children to consume those homemade lunches and water.

The mayor of Yokohama and the Board of Education president answered the councilman in a meeting that they considered the food items used for school lunches "are safe, because they are sold in the market", and that they had instructed the school principals to answer the parents that way when they asked about the safety of school lunches.

Then, in early June, the City of Yokohama relented to mounting complaints from the parents and people like this councilman, announced that it would conduct sample testing of the food items for school lunches. At the same time, though, it announced that it would use food items from the disaster-affected areas (i.e. Fukushima) to show support.

Some parents went to ask their school principals and teachers. "Why aren't you doing something to find out if the food is safe?" Their answer? "Well, everyone's eating it."

In the meantime, schools started to prepare for swimming classes in their swimming pools, and not to waste pool water that had been in the pools, they used it to water the school gardens and yards, to the horror of parents who were called "monster parents" for worrying "too much" about radiation.

Then a bombshell.

On June 5, an insider leak to the coucilman from a concerned food stuff dealer. The dealer provided the unique identification numbers for the cows whose meat was used in Yokohama's school lunches.

They were all from Fukushima.

Seriously...

No surprise here... we already got this discussion aboot why the food supply should not be trusted in japan...

Hey Hammer, forget all that fricking food shit. Japan is playing for the womens' World Cup Championship. There ain't time to worry about a little contamination here and there. Besides, prolly won't kill you for a year or two, yet.....

How can they keep this shit up? Noone trusts anything the Japanese announce anymore. (except the Japanese) Exports and travel are not going to be fixed by PRing the fuck out of them, saying things are safe. With the amount of crap in the food supply, I imagine it won't be long before we see some adverse health problems

Even the Japanese have had it with the BS. If you watch the news just about everyone is lamenting the fact that the power companies and government can't be trusted. The problem is ... what to do about it? Unfortunately the government, who've pretty much proven that they can't be trusted, runs the damn country. And Japanese "democracy" doesn't really allow the people to decide who does that job. Talk about a Catch-22.

Laughed my head off (between tears) this week at two news sites I looked at within minutes.

First saw a site where at least three officials from the Cabinet Office sat and listened respectfully to a single (as in alone), 20-something rightist demanding an end to using taxpayers' money to fund anything for foreigners and promising they would consider his demands.
Minutes later, I watched as prefectural government officials and security guards physically blocked off a group of more than 100 demonstrators seeking to present a governor with a request to hold off resumption of a halted nuclear reactor until people could get more information about it. They were turned away before their demands could even be presented.

It was reassuring to learn that, like you 'hammer, Japanese government officials have got their priorities firmly in place.

I wonder if it's not the "crazy hobo" plan of response...

Rightwingnuts in Japan have a tradition of over the top asshatery... So like for crazy hoboz, since they can't avoid eye contact, it might be better to say 'yes yes...' while not giving a flying frack rather than ending with a rusty blade in the stomach...

This was a pretty long one too. When do I start getting worried? Just as it was happening the TV programming switched immediately to earthquake watch mode.

My daughter (6), who has been pretty traumatized by the tsunami footage we were watching on TV at home, told me just as she was trying to sleep "dad don't talk about earthquake anymore because I am trying to forget that ok?" and the ground started shaking.

Yep, the Fuckushima farmers were purposely trying to poison us.
#Fukushima Cattle Farmers Used Rice Hay Because It Wasn't Regulated
EX-SKF blog | Sat, July 16, 2011
...
I do have sympathy for cattle farmers and their suppliers in Tohoku, but when I read the news I am disappointed that they simply followed the guidance (in this case the lack thereof) from the government and not used their common sense that the hay sitting outside or rolled after the Fukushima accident might be contaminated with radioactive materials and it would be better to treat it the same way as the grass feed, which was regulated. Instead, they decided to use the rice hay, or sell it, because the government didn't have any rule on it.
I also understand the farmers' situation that there was nothing else to feed their cows, since the supply of cattle feed got interrupted by the earthquake/tsunami and then by the Fukushima accident. So they were trying to find a way to feed their cows, and they found the rice hay, which was outside the regulation. So they fed the cows with the rice hay and hoped for the best.
If the grass feed that was growing outside since the accident was contaminated, it doesn't take much imagination to figure out that the same radioactive materials might be also falling on the rice hay...more...

Yea... Basically it boils down to one simple thing...

Presumption of innnocence is good for peoples only (and Dominique Strauss Kahn blowjobs...)

In case of nukular accident... everything in the vincinity is supposed to be considered contaminated unless proven otherwise...

(principe de securité/caution principle) That's why you don't reuse syringes, wash yer hands after taking a dump, put condoms before boning that 1000 yens a shtoop Philipin hooker and don't eat cows living near a powerplant for which 3 reactors are in various states of shitting themselves/Chinese Syndrome...

The problem is that with the "flyjin" phenomenom, anything done on the side of caution was dismissed as over reaction / panic.

We're reaching new lows now that they got their bulletpoint roadmap checklist from Tepco... (arbitrary) Stage 1 done, ok, people will have to go back to their home soon.

What was stage one... who decided the content, who decided the landmark was reached, what does it really means... At this point we can safely assume that the answers are... bullshit, bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit. The situation should be assessed and monitored by independant party like the CRIIRAD, not by the criminal themselves and those that covered them up for decades...

The image of the Russian roulette is perfect indeed... when you look down and see that it's a matter of killing few cows and discarding few vegetabuls... it get ridiculous...

Who gives a flying fuck... you don't give any numbers either... for now you are just posturing...

Either you can give now the normal level of plutonium-239, uranium-235, tellurium-129 that should be expected in a non-Ukrainian car air filter with sources or... (...)

None of those components are commonly found in the environment (not even in my cats litter) and the Tellurium 129 have a half life of 33 days or 140 minutes depending on the specific kind concerned. So whatever the number, they should not even be there...

I can't give informed opinion on these numbers, but talking honestly out of my ass, anything different from around 0 is not a good situation.

Look seriously at the position of our post. The plant has been vomiting in the air and the sea for 3 month, all previous safety limit numbers have been upped to let beancounters sleep at night and what are you telling us ? that without numbers the source stating there is accumulated radioactive crap in cars air filters is not reliable !? You are from an airfilter manufacturer lobby or you are just fucking around for shit and giggles ?

What is even the point of your post ? You think that discrediting the guy will make everything nice and shiny ? Would it mean anything different if the numbers were low enough ? would you clear the air filters to be sold in supermarkets for human consumption ?]
