I have just been given one of those electric kettles that are so popular these days. It's a T-fal thing, which is mostly plastic. It works great. Boils water quickly, shuts off automatically, comfortable handle that doesn't get hot. Being thoroughly addicted to coffee I can see getting a lot of use out of the thing. But, other than the stainless-steel bit at the bottom that does the heating, it's all plastic. Boiling water in plastic?
Anyone know anything about the dangers of chemicals leaching from the plastic in such an application? I've searched around the web a bit, but nothing authoritative. I figure I've got a better chance of getting an "authortitative" answer here on FG.
