One thing I will give the J-cops credit for is being good at not escalating a situation. Cops in the US tend to automatically start yelling and being pushy hard-asses right off the bat and never listen to anything you're saying. Of course I can kind of understand because they are a lot more likely to get assaulted or killed in the US. However, I think a lot of situation that could just end with a warning end up in arrests becauce the cops at home tend to come on too strong.

I can concur with that. I have seen drunks and young louts abusing cops verbally here, and the cops usually don't even bat an eyelid.
Even back in mild-mannered Canada, there have been a few recent high profile incidents of cops beating, or worse yet, a tasing that lead to a death, all caught on camera phones.
I wonder if/when the cops here will start carrying tasers (maybe some already do in the big cities...).

If you compare the educational requirements for police in Japan and the U.S., you'll understand why. The pay also reflects that difference.

i was stopped one time a looong time ago for skateboarding (i was young and unruly). the old bastard was nice about it. i believe our convo went like this:

cop: i say, i'm sorry to inform you that you cannot ride your skateboard here.
proxy: okay.
cop: if you go just yonder, however, you can skateboard all you like. i hope you find the terrain suitable.
proxy: okay.
cop: have a glorious day.

well... here is my fucked story.

wife gets pissed off. kicks me in the head when i am sleeping and wakes up the kids. i wake up out of my daze and my hands have her foot in a Achilles lock. I let go, change, grab my work bag and GTFO.

She calls and says that I am too violent. I tell her to go get her head checked and she kick a sleeping person in the head, hung up.

She comes to my office, I see her and greet her, she gives me a 2 to the lip and I start gushing blood out my mouth (mind you that I taught her how to turn her shoulder and not just to extend her arm... dumb mistake)

She then calls the police, they come to the office, and ask why am I hitting her.

I show them my lip, both of them grunt as I am still gushing blood, and my work shirt is all covered in blood. Then I tell them what happened and if they want to talk more, take us to jail, question us, and get a Dr. to check my injuries and record it.

The cops asked what injuries my wife had and she said none and that I just grabbed her arm and forcibly pushed her towards the exit after she hit me.

The Sr. cop shakes his head walks back to the car and the rookie convinces my wife to leave the office and go home.

Sr. cop comes back and says to me, "You need to get a lawyer... sorry, but I cant do nothing"

I asked why he wasn't going to arrest her and he said that it was just a quarrel between husband and wife and he cant do nothing...

SO WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BRING YOUR SORRY ASS OUT HERE? I thought... well... I am lucky I taught that crazy nut how to turn her shoulder or I wouldn't have been leaking out my face.

If this was the US she would have been in jail and I would get custody of the kids. Now we just have to get a divorcee and I lose custody despite the police seeing me leak out my face.

well, the night before there was a charity event for Japan's earthquck and the money went to schools and young children. The event was organized by baby loves disco.

So i go, the event ended at like 2200 and one of my good friends happened to be at the same place. So we went out for a round then I went home, kissed my boys on the head, then went to sleep.

I was more concerned about my co-workers coming to the office and seeing it rather than getting info. Thank god I got there hella early or people would have been showing up...

My mind set is if I am going to lose custody of the kids anyway... why make an effort and put out cash to a lawyer when I could save my dough, stress, and mental stability now and accept it.

She will come crawling for money soon... especially since I just started another bank account and have all my salary paid to an off-shore account, she won't get shit but drained out accounts.

Cant get money from me that isn't made in japan when I am still in my first 4 tax years... i don't have to claim no overseas gains, that and the proof towards it is nada.

I think I will pay per visit for my kids rather than give money and hope to meet them. Not to mention receipts for what she needs money for before I fork over the cash. Might not to get to see the boys a lot for a while, but after her pocket is dry she will give in.

ATM slim to none, their biz is in the shitter and their 36 yo son just got married (he is broke as fuck and his wife bought her own ring).

Not to mention that their other daughter is going to Canada with her daughter to take care of him and his two freeloading daughters and leave some money for them cause she feels sorry.

They have nothing to put up for her... but there will always be surprises.

Very unfortunate situation. Condolences.

So she lost it because you went out for a drink with a friend instead of going home with her?

not with her, but to her. she does this about 2 times a month then comes back and apologizes, but repeats again shortly there after.

her parents give me respect cause I could just get up and leave but never have. so whenever stupid shit like this happens, the mom and dad usually kick me down some food and what not so I can eat whilst I hide out at my friends house or else where.

been blessed a lot, but i also get my head kicked in ever month or so... i guess it evens out.

Well, if her parents are reasonable, maybe talk to them before making any moves. If she is put in a position where she's single, with kids, zero support and her parents don't agree with her actions, she maybe come to her senses. Maybe get her to sign over full custody of the kids BEFORE giving her another chance to change. I dunno, be crafty and workout what you can BEFORE the divorce and get it in writing. If isn't reasonable, as you said, best come to terms with being cut out of your kids lives. (If you didn't have kids, I would be asking you why you didn't kick her out long ago...)

Kicking you in the head while you are sleeping is so not cool and is not the work of a normal rational person. Sounds like she needs some serious therapy and meds. Any chance of getting her some help?

she had actually mentioned that herself cause she knows that the stuff she does is not rational... I give her support in that decision because most people who do the things she does will not opt to speak to a psychiatrist.

I love wify, but wify goes nuts sometimes. I'd rather help her through it vs. divorce and complex child custody problems... but how much more can I take before I flip is the bigger concern...

But back on thread topic... If it aint an FG on the line, the popo really jus dont give a fug.

What are you both waiting for? Get thee to a professional. I know how easy it is to rationalise it all away as you are in the middle of it. Some people avoid facing this for years and years.

But honestly dude, she kicked you in the head and hit your face until you bled. That is not right in a normal loving relationship. Imagine the shit storm if it was the other way around... do yourself a favour and get help for both of you.

When she goes nuts she probably doesn't really remember what she does or why she does it - it just boils up inside her and she explodes. So when she is normal there is no urgency to get help... until the next time. And there will be a next time. If she needs convincing to seek some help, video her on a rampage and show it to her when she is normal and I am sure she will be shocked.

Wow IParry, I feel for ya. I had a girl that was similar once, even stalked me to my parent's house and asked my friends for the electronic door code so she could "surprise" me when I got back....

I would definitely get shit in writing and start preparing for the worst without her knowledge, who knows, maybe next time it won't just be a kick in the head. Having said that, get treatment or get the fuck away. I am generally in a very bad mood when getting woken up in a violent way, and tend to respond in kind x 10. I admire the self-control and do agree with the comments that this wouldn't stand if it was the other way, but do yourself a favor and do get out of this abusive relationship.

SJ, I don't think she was that way when they got married. Some women's body chemistry changes after childbirth.

Example: My ex-wife had allergies after having kids. She used to laugh at my sneezing during allergy season. After sprouting a couple, guess who's sneezing now, while my allergic reactions had decreased.

I'm sure there are very rare cases where someone has a complete mental snap and suddenly becomes violent but those are the exceptions that prove the rule. The signs are there. A lot of people choose to ignore them though because they are stupid and actually believed The Beetles when they said, "All you need is love."

Your allergy example is ridiculous.

While I tend to agree, TIJ and I have met my fair share of phonies here. Almost married one even...but lucky for me she let her guard down once she thought I was trapped. Not even her parents threats of legal action (yes, another reminder TIJ) for "konnyaku sagi" made me reconsider the escape. (Actually, they reaffirmed for me that this was one family I didn't want to be part of) Of course they were nothing but shallow threats, there was no proposal, nor did I do anything sagi-like. Anyhow, back to my point, while I agree with you, there be some crazy bitches here that put extreme effort into being a burrrikkkkko princess and then turn into Oni-spawn from Fukushima once they think it's too late for you to escape.
