Can anyone sell food products on the street?

Postby Shibuya Me » Tue Sep 09, 2003 6:59 pm

:D

Can anyone sell food on the street in Japan?

I remember someone saying that he use to sell
breakfast to university school students outside
his house a bit a ago....pancakes or something?!

So, do you need a health/food license? Can anyone
sell food out of the back of a van? Do I need a van?

That was Steve's old gig, from this topic.

I'd imagine the rules are more relaxed in Japan than in the US and elsewhere in the Western world. Korea is much like Japan in this regard (among others). Street vendors are a way of life here, and they sell everything you can imagine - waffles, ramen, hotdogs on a stick, unidentified meats on a stick, silkworm soup, rice cakes, tempura veggies and many, many other things. And I've yet to see a license to do any of it displayed.

You need to pay for Yakuza license fees.
The price was 20,000 yen a weekend across from Harajuku Station (south/main exit) under the overpass a couple years ago.

Well, if I am in the country side...say....Urawa or Saitama Shintoshin...
will the Yakuza bother me?

And are you serious about the Yakuza?

They're serious.
Urawa, da-Saitama (murder capital of Japan) would not be a wise "test" of how serious the Yakuza are. Other small countryside stations you may have to deal with bored bozOzuku/chimpira/drunks.
But with your Shibuya-Me Style, ya won't have problems.

Yikes, don't tell me that. How the hell can I pontificate to your trolling unless I take you seriously. Sheesh. Image

PS The concrete danchi cages in Urawa, daSaitama have had Japan's highest murder rate since the mid-80s.

Shibuya Me,

Whether you are serious in the business is your own business but your question does not sound like a joke. Taro simply want to help and gave the info, it can be good for you or others.

Give me a break!

Postby Shibuya Me » Thu Sep 11, 2003 11:08 am

tinateoh,

Give me a break! Take a joke! A rolling stone gathers no moss! One in the hand is better than two in the bush! Take a pill! Take a break! Fly to Hawaii! Watch the Brady Bunch! Play base-ball! Soccer!

Don't take this stuff anyone writes as concrete! You need a vacation! This is not real stuff here Tinateoh! Just a forum!

Why waste your time writing to me? If you dont like what I write, there is an ignore button you may use at any time.

Love,

Shibuya me....

Shibuya Me,

I am having my vacation now, and I probably feel much more relax and than anyone here. I can take jokes, but read your own questions, it does not seems like a joke.(especially with one who like to use all the emoticons in one post, not a bad thing to me tho) I was just thinking even you are not serious with your question you can always write a "Thank you/ thanks for the info". Joking and being rude is 2 diffrent thing.

You are obviously also taking my reply seriously/ or as concrete otherwise why did you reply?

Hit the ignore button on me if you like, I don't use it, didn't you say is just a forum? :) Take care.

With lots of love.

Tina

*And as what you did, I can also suddenly claim that whatever I have written above was just a joke. Can you see the picture now?

And there's the closest-in-60000-years MARS visible just below the full moon around 8-9pm!

This has got to be extra "points" in the romance department.

QUESTION: Did the Japanese screw up the "Moon Viewing" by making it primarily a romance* ploy? In Japan, a guy can get most any girl to go out "Moon Viewing" in the dark.

*(and poetry).

Back home while I was small, is a family event, everyone would sit outside the house, eating mooncakes while viewing the moon, chit-chatting with the neighbours, and how I miss this, all the children walking around carried beautiful, colourful lantern with candle light up inside.. (nowadays is replaced with lightbulbs  )
