ChinChin Mania

Postby noigeaR » Thu Sep 11, 2003 8:16 am

first post to this forum, so be gentle
i've been lurking on this forum for some time now and thought i really needed to contribute something.
there's a company in germany (diva berlin) that started to sell keitai straps a few weeks ago. keitai straps are very popular in japan, but almost unknown in germany and it looks like diva berlin has got some exclusive rights and even a patent for selling keitai straps in germany. the funny thing about this is what they call the keitai straps in german. they call them chinchins 8O
no joke, keitai straps are officially advertised and sold with the name chinchin in germany!
diva berlin's homepage is http://www.chinchin.de
it's very funny to read if you understand german. especially the page where they explain "what are chinchins?" http://www.chinchin.de/chinchin.htm
i think i should send them an e-mail and tell them what a chinchin really is
and then there's a gallery from some kind of marketing exhibtion or party or something right here http://www.chinchin.de/specials.htm
there's a picture of a quite famous (at least famous in germany) actress and singer called jeanette biedermann. i'll try to link to the pic. hope it works.

Image

scary isn't it?
i bet she hasn't got a clue what goes on in the mind of japanese men when they see that pic :D

Tongari-kun or "Mr. Pointy "

Postby Taro Toporific » Thu Sep 11, 2003 10:13 am

And in related news...

Mr. Pointy makes New York debut
The Japan Times: Sept. 11, 2003NEW YORK (Kyodo) Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at Rockefeller Center ...
...It features a 9-meter-tall "Tongari-kun," or Mr. Pointy. "I was thinking that the spire atop Mr. Pointy is a communication center with outer space" ...

If you mean bukkake ramen, it's just the orginal term (covered noodles) that existed before the modern one.

Old school bukkake Image

The current connotation Image

Refer to the FG threads hot bukkake pixs and bukkake urdon.

I believe the original meaning of bukkake is from the word "kakeru", which means "to cover", "to coat", or "to put on", all three as in "put on/cover/coat something with sauce". "Bu" is like an onomatopoeia, a sound mimicking its meaning. Bukkake ramen and bukkake udon refer to the egg that's covering the noodles, as if it went "splat" when it fell from its shell onto the food. So naturally, the word went from there to its current pornographic connotation.

I hadn't thought about until this thread came up, but this puts the South Park episode that was a parody of Pokemon in a whole new light. Their name for the monsters - Chinpokomon!

I'll have to go download that episode and watch it again, just to see what other "hidden" jokes are in there.

Chinpokomon is the most popular episode among the Japanese. It's really funny "dickman." The Japanese voice actors obviouly knew the joke so I'm sure it was on purpose.

I loved that episode and have watched it several times. Who is Saki Miata? I remember her cut-out in that episode, but I never recognized her.

Not that it's important but Saki Miata is the niece of a Koto teacher friend of mine.

She's done a bunch of bit parts in TV shows and films in the States such as:
Wasteland "Special Interest"
HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm 'The Acupuncturist"
CITY OF LOST SOULS (Hong Kong movie)
Layover ( movie)
Stuart Bliss ( movie)
