In Japan, the railway stations are designed in such a way that travellers can proceed smoothly without bumping into each other.

I'd be interested to know where that particular railway station is ...

The Okinawans actually do pronounce it saki, not sake. I wonder if US servicemen didn't accurately reproduce that local dialect when taking the word back home with them.

Could be... I have seen some pretty unbelievable shit. One of my ex's, her parent's parents hated each other. Inaka people vs. Tokyo people. Never met each other until recently. Up until then, it was like a chess game of one-uping each other and reacting to what each other did. None of them came to the wedding or to see her after she was born....but when her younger brother was born, suddenly both sets of parents came out of the woodwork to spoil their only male heir. Even today, they seem to not care about her but are constantly butting in and trying to control and know everything about the son's life. I understand the cultural emphasis here on the eldest son and males here in general but the total lack of any feelings for their granddaughter was beyond me.

Another thing I've noticed is not a single J-girl I've asked has been willing to take in children from a family member, should that member and spouse pass away unexpectedly. They go on and on about how important blood relation is but when their own blood is in need, they refuse to even consider helping out. :nihonjin:

Who knows...karaoke gets pronounced keri-oh-kiii, arigatou becomes aragato.
