Yeah, I wonder about that too. I posted the story here but upon reflection I'll reserve judgement on the guy until more details emerge. Too much of a mob mentality about these things leads to the fucked up situation in much of the US (and probably some other places too.) Men afraid to be around kids (sometimes even their own!) and seemingly little more than a finger pointed can be enough to fuck up a guy's life.

It has gotten so ridiculous in the US. I used to work with a lady in Seattle who also did part-time work at a summer day camp for kindergarteners. She told me the rules were so strict that the only contact that the councilors were allowed was to touch children on the shoulder with one hand at a time.

She said it was really tough because the kids were always trying to give them hugs and jump on them to play but the camp's organizers were so afraid of a law suit that they understandably didn't see an alternative. It's pretty sad when the litigious nature of a society makes normal human contact taboo.

There was a well known case in NZ some 20 years back of alleged child abuse at a Kindergarten. Peter Ellis was eventually convicted on the basis of groundless rumors alone in 1993 and it wasn't until 2007 that he was deemed not innocent due to 'new evidence'. Scary stuff. I wouldn't want to work with kids in a Western country.

ya that is just plain fucked. i worked part-time at a kindergarten when I was in High School and I was the only male staff besides the maintenance man. The teacher I worked under warned me that the school district is strict on contact with children so to be careful no matter what the child does... if they go home and say that Mr. IPU was playing with them and the parent wasn't happy with that I could go to jail...

Mind you I was also did freestyle wrestling and that sport is quite popular where I was from (D1 baby!) and many of the kids that were in wrestling wanted me to show them some techniques. I refused to wrestle with the kids I didn't want to get fucked...

I maintain a strict don't shit where you eat policy, even in Japan. It's just not worth it. In the States I think it's best even to avoid casual chats with women in the office. Of course you can't avoid that 100% but keep it as generic as possible.

Good policy in any country...I've soo far managed to avoid any workplace bangin' but I can't say the same for neighbors. Every time I've moved some place with hot neighbors, at one point or another, my place or theirs, there is always some sort of "hey, we should grab a drink" or something of the like that leads to gettin' friendly with my neighbor So far, I've been lucky. One moved out 2 weeks later (I promptly banged her ex roommate afterwards) another got back with her ex, and the others seemed to be just OK with just casual bangin'. I haven't got a good look at my new neighbors but I'm tempted to bring them a big ass bottle of Jack or Tequila for the customary new neighbor gift. I'm sure it won't go unappreciated
