A topic of conversation that I'm sure he undoubtedly avoids...I merely quoted his rhetoric to point out the glaring irony that you pointed out.

I recently re-read the Clancy book (hadn't seen it since 1994, which was a few years before coming here), after running across the bits online. Had (mercifully) forgotten how awful his dialgoue is, combined with his crap use of a few Japanese words for "authenticity".

All I've heard is the strong yen is more about dollar and euro uncertainty. Well, the Euro freaks actually stopped fingering each other's asses and did something... and of course, the yen go stronger.

Considering what happened the last time the Europeans tried to help themselves when economies flagged and currencies were in crisis, I think it's probably a better idea for the world to get together and ease the cuntinent out of its difficult situation...

Heh! It'll be fascinating to see if the USD breaches 75. If it does, it's certainly much easier to imagine 50 within the next year or two.

-catone
-OTOH, the yen could blow up just like the won and bhat in the late 90s.

If you need yen, buy it now. If you don't, then just wait.
50? Uh... not gonna happen. Japan has bitched enough about 75. They'll probably cut off their nose to spite their face if it gets into the 74-73 handle.

Indeed. Imagine everything Japan exports priced at normal Japanese rape pricing...would do wonders for Korea though.

Glad I wired money to the states last week. :D

Hummm... how long until the US find an excuse to attack China ?

They own the US debt
They own the US jobs (and a bit of the rest of the planet)
They are massively exporting meaning they have 0 interest in any military action further than Tibet (maybe not even Taiwan) which would kill their customers.

The US seems to always speak or fear Chinese saber rattling (their stealth jet, their -sad attempt- aircraft carrier...)

With an economy going down and downer, might just take someone a sandwich short of a picnic in the white house to solve all problem in one strike...

(I really should stop visiting infowars(dot)com... but... le bored...)

We soon won't have to worry about that. Just gotta wait a few more weeks until the US government gives in to the Occupy Movement and forgives all debts ever, returns jobs to the US, and builds a space rocket to the sun.

You lucked out there! I paid off those bitches at the IRS at 78 JPY/USD in Sept, but back in July I changed a Michelle Obama-sized assload of of yen at 82. Anyway. That those damn chons have been able to so successfully beggar the won must drive the nipponesers greenish-yellow with envy. Today's yen-cheapening gambit brought it down to only what had been its record high since '94, 79-80. A Finance Ministry bureaucrat who now works as a "consultant" told us in 2008 that 50 JPY/USD would happen within the next five years, and as we get closer to 2013 events seem to be validating his prediction.

Maybe...but I still have more pending orders so I'm bound do have to wire more soon :(

The lower it goes, the better for my business but it's getting pretty retarded now.

how about rense.com for totally broad and almost unfiltered conspiracy theories, and washingtons blog for more sensible conspiracy theories

any of you guys been shown the 9-11 stuff on 5-10-20 dollar bills, and that the mountain on 1000 yen notes if you hold it up to the light you can see the guys eye through it just like the pyramid eye masonic stuff

just kidding...

world is still very feudal at its heart though isnt it

Punchy, I too scoffed, but the MOF mandarins have been running Japan since the war, so I made a note of it when he said it. And it's a lot closer to being true now then it was five years ago, wouldn't you say? Unless some kind of Black Swan event happens, like a collapse of the J-bond mkt, then 50 is on its way by 2013. Will you be ready? Are you ready now?
