Reuters: Seven & I buys U.S. convenience store White Hen
Japan's Seven & I Holdings Co, operator of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, said on Friday it has bought out White Hen Pantry Inc. for $35 million to strengthen its U.S. operations. Seven & I, Japan's biggest retailer, has acquired all shares in unlisted WHP Holdings Corp., owner of the White Hen convenience store chain, which operates 206 stores in the Chicago area...which boosts Seven's store network to about 400 in the third-largest U.S. city.

If they bought some stores in the vacant World Trade Centre part of New York, they could call the chain 9-11 !!!!!!!!

7-11 is at it again

Convenience store giant 7-ELeven has announced plans to buy 28 retail locations in the US from Pacific Convenience & Fuels (PC&F).

The acquisition includes sites in California, Oregon, Washington state and Colorado. The transaction is subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close by the end of the year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

7-Eleven, owned by Japanese retailer Seven & I Holdings, said it would remodel and rebrand the 28 locations, with most of the work due to be completed by the end of next year. The stores, however, will retain the Conoco-Phillips/76 gasoline brands.
