'Exorcism' kills Japanese girl

A 13-year-old girl was suffocated by her father and a monk who were trying to expel an "evil spirit".

The girl died after she was strapped down and doused with water, Japanese police and media reports said yesterday.

The two men, 56-year-old monk Kazuaki Kinoshita and the girl's 50-year-old father Atsushi Maishigi, were arrested on charges of inflicting injury resulting in the death of Tomomi Maishigi in Kumamoto in the country's south.

"The two are suspected of having conspired in what they call 'waterfall service'... They allegedly strapped the victim to a chair with belts and doused her face with water," on the night of August 27, a local police spokesman said.

The girl was confirmed dead early the next day when her mother called an ambulance after the victim fell unconscious.
"The cause of death is suffocation," the police official said.

News reports said the two men poured water over her as an "exorcism" with the father holding the girl down while the monk chanted sutras.

NOTE: I have done the chanting under the icy waterfall as part of Aikido training and I found it a good (if almost enlightening) experience and certainly not life threatening. It is impossible to understand how this cult's "waterfall service" could have caused a death without intended malice (that is, it was murder not manslaughter).

The waterfall training was done at New Years of 1986 in Izu.
(I was kicked of the nest by my judo sensei to cross-train in Aikido at a dojo in Tabata Tokyo for a year. The dojo was run by an LDP wannabe, Moriteru Ueshiba.)

LOL, realy depends on who you train with and their interpretation of Aikido.

...hell, I think half my Aikido senseis were former Judo senseis so maybe when I'm Greji's age I'll get back into it.

my akido teacher said that judo is for teenagers and I responded by telling her that you need to be a teenager before you turn old.

In answer to Choko's obvious uninformed comment on my youthful self, I must mention that my favorate Martial Art is "Yubiwaza," which will defeat all other Martial Arts combined.

It is quite simple. When some dude/dudette fucks with you, ya takes the proper stance, slipping the hitosashi YUBI flush up against the trigger of your 9mm, while maintaining good form. You then double tap the motherfucker twice right between the headlights.

Now I don't care if the dude is on a first name basis with Kung Fu Panda, 18mms (9mm+9mm) of yubi waza is going to slow the mother down to a crawl.
