We Koreans

South Korea's fierce island guard

The irascible fisherman first lived in a cave when he came to the disputed islets between Korea and Japan. For years he has chased off Japanese boats with a clenched fist and stream of obscenities. more...

the article wrote:Tomohiko Taniguchi, a former spokesman for Japan's Foreign Ministry and now a visiting professor at Tokyo's Keio University, says many Japanese believe that South Korea snatched the islets when their nation was weakened from its loss in World War II.

While I support Japan's claims to Takeshima, this argument is a little piss-poor.

Japan was well on the way to recovery in 1953, when South Korea snatched the islands from under their nose.

Ironically, that recovery came about because of huge demand stemming from the Korean War, which, incidentally, pummeled South Korea to its knees right around the time it supposedly took advantage of Japan's weakness.

"Experts" making arguments like these do little to help the cause of Japan, which may find its excellence playing "victim" works wonders at home but tends to be less effective when viewed by objective observers.

We [cave] Koreans

With all the pollution being released as a result of the occupations, those "rocks" should just be destroyed so no human can reside there.
My impression is that these problems are much worse in South-Korea than in Japan]

No doubt the Japanese are less confrontational than the Koreans (which may make it seem worse on the surface) but I'd say their "We Japanese" force is more embedded in them than the Koreans. The "We Koreans" mentality seems to originate mostly from being owned by every country around them for most of their history. Victim mentality on nation-wide scale. The Japanese, on the other hand, seem to have this superiority complex that is promoted by their gov. and media. I've read a number of "incidents" that got out of hand in Korea but the K-police seemed to have treated the FG involved fairly and dealt with the issue properly. In Japan, we all pretty much know that once it becomes FG vs. Japanese, the cops almost always side with the Japanese no matter how unbelievable the situation is. Don't get me wrong, Korea is nearly as bad as Japan but I see Korea's situation getting better with the higher number of students studying abroad and as they strive to become more internationalized. (and their gov. courts seem to be taking the discrimination issue seriously) Japan, on the other hand, seems set on preserving the "We Japanese" mentality.

You're talking about a single case.
Japan's judicial system cops a blast for being anti-foreign, and largely because of selective reporting, I can see why people think that way. But the reality is not quite so. The Japanese judicial system fucks everybody. Almost nobody wins, except perhaps smarmy judges who delight in watching people on both sides of the case squirm.

Except when one side is the state. Then it is mostly one side that squirms.

Chemical castration....nice! They can probably get it passed if they make it and literal castration as voluntary procedures as opposed to longer jail terms.

Because most lack anything that defines the two? :D

It's a shame, because it's not like the Fukushima people had anything to do with the textbooks. Right wing affiliations in the Japanese government never cease to be a thorn in the side of diplomacy.

Yeah. I really which they had distributed that aid to Japan so the local scumbags could have misused it instead. ;)
