Right on, meng. Same town that Sugar Shane Mosley hails from.

I'm from Los Scandalous but I went to school up north. Cal. Same school Wozniak withdrew from...but an institution famous for a million other reasons.

Well, shit, if we have to talk about Pomona, might as well talk about "the Pomona drive-in theater" on Holt and reminiscing about Montclair plaza. Claremont colleges, Peppermint Elephant, Fashions, Pomona fair. I'm from San Dimas and please....NO "Bill and Ted" jokes! I know this is way off topic, but any of you So. Cali MoFos know of a Japanese Restaurant by the name of "Hana Haru" in Glendora.
If so, this is more bizarre than I had imagined!

That's right, close to Foothill blvd and Arrow Hwy (route 66) at that time, I was dating this japanes girl and would often go there to eat the real deal Japanese cuisine and I would see quite often the former bassist from Van Halen-Michael Anthony"....

I never went there, a friend who moved there to start his own meth lab told me about it awhile ago.

Did 2 years at Ganesha but escaped to Diamond Bar afterwards. (My parents technically live in Diamond Bar but the school zoning fucked that side to the Pomona School District)

Me old stomping grounds ;) You forgot the Glasshouse! (Most excellent!)

Hana Haru, my friend Take was managing that place for awhile so I've been there more times than I can remember.

Steve Jobs brought Japanese style minimalistic marketing/design to the west. His Apple stores were as cool as any in Japan. His products' packaging evoke memories of high-end shopping in Japan. For all the times I have asked myself why such and such company could not do it like they do in Japan, Steve jobs did it the right way. He was a marketing icon.

Now only if someone could make the Toto electric toilet seats a mainstream thing in the west that would be appreciate it.

those must be great for you; figure since you spend so much time talking out yer arse, they could double as drinking fountains.

Don't know where the Japanese minimalism went with the Toto toilet seats, but I still concur with you on this one.

IMHO, the washlet is the greatest Japanese invention since nyotai mori.

LOL, so he micromanaged like a tyrant. The results have been impressive...

As to all the shit about Chinese/slave/child labor....seriously, what Apple competitors are not doing the same (be it Chinese, Korean, Pakistan, etc etc) Why do those countries allow it? Where does one draw the line? Do we stop buying Japanese products due to all the illegal free overtime, shitty pay, lack of vacations, and poor children who never get to see their fathers?

...and this is coming from someone who doesn't ride the apple bandwagon.

I think you've made good points. IMO it doesn't hurt to look at both sides of the coin, since the best arguments will pan out in the end. For one of the billionaire, capitalist, elite big biz dudes, he sure was loved by the masses like no other. He must have been doing something better than the rest...

Gawker media website don't try to make points, they try to make controversies on the cheap... AND they have an axe to grind with apple since the gizmodo/stolen iphone prototype fiasco...

just to be the devil's advocate... he gave many children a "real job" compare to whoring themselves out to some old guy, digging in medical waste for recyclables, or getting beat by their poor parents for not bringing back money.

Mind you, some lil fucker that was working in factories and what not built a home made helicopter...

and people wonder how china got so uppity and powerful... we have been outsourcing everything to them...

On a serious note, i bet they are saying "Thank you Steve Jobs... Pray to god that the next guy that takes over gives us work like you did."

Yeah well, Amy Winehouse died and she went from the media's favourite damage case to a talented saint in one day. Steve Jobs passes on and suddenly he's a hero with everyone wanting to paste their take on his business all over the internets.

It's what people say when these people are alive that matters.

He did acid when he was young so a lot of people can pretend that makes him cool and by inference them cool if they have also temporarily altered the chemical signals in their brain for a few hours at some point in their lives. He seemed to think Bill Gates would have benefited from taking LSD, I think Bill Gates on acid would just be Bill Gates on acid.
