Even if the water was benign (it was probably tap water) I can't get over what a stupid fucking stunt that was.
Irresponsible and just plain stupid.

Let me illustrate the effects of socially accepted lying another way: What is considered the most untrustworthy of professions? Politics, of course. Because politicians are seen as personalities who, for their own survival, appeal to people by saying what they want to hear, regardless of their own true feelings.
That is precisely what tatemae does to Japanese society. It makes everyone into a politician, changing the truth to suit their audience, garner support or deflect criticism and responsibility.
Again, uso mo hoben: As long as you accomplish your goals, lying is a means to an end. The incentives in Japan are clear. Few will tell the truth if they will be punished for doing so, moreover rarely punished for not doing so.
No doubt a culturally relativistic observer would attempt to justify this destructive dynamic by citing red herrings and excuses (themselves tatemae) such as "conflict avoidance," "maintaining group harmony," "saving face," or whatever. Regardless, the awful truth is: "We Japanese don't lie. We just don't tell the truth."
This is not sustainable. Post-Fukushima Japan must realize that public acceptance of lying got us into this radioactive mess in the first place.
For radiation has no media cycle. It lingers and poisons the land and food chain. Statistics may be obfuscated or suppressed as usual. But radiation's half-life is longer than the typical attention span or sustainable degree of public outrage...
Oct. 31 2011- ALERT-Scientific evidence now PROVES radiation in Japan has been (and is) at deadly levels. Please see supporting document links below.
Ironically, on Oct. 27, 2011 Japanese parents STILL living with their CHILDREN in Fukushima prefecture who have ALL now absorbed 8 MONTHS of this deadly radiation spent the afternoon "debating" whether or not to evacuate.......
In addition to refusing to accept personal responsibility for evacuating their OWN kids (or themselves for that matter) --these citizens continue to subject their kids to deadly fallout each and every day ---and waste their time (& their children's lives) "trying to talk govt officials into issuing an evacuation order".......
In my opinion, there might be times in life when "Playing the Blame Game" (rather than taking personal responsibility for one's own actions) is an affordable luxury. When children are involved however ALL games stop (don't they?) and personal responsibility for the health and safety of one's OWN CHILDREN would be The Parent's #1 Priority.
If the adults who have continued to live within Fukushima prefecture (or even Tokyo from the evidence presented above in this video & that's been presented all around the world in a million languages for months and months now) --if these adult citizens wish to continue living in these areas -and reap the obvious consequences --that's their decision and their priviledge I guess--
The children located in these areas should NOT have to endure the obvious consequences of their "parents" decisions however---there is no parent on earth who has the right to subject their children to these consequences. Period.
After 8 months (of doing nothing to protect their own children).....we have parents blaming the govt.....their children are dying and their blaming.....
It's like standing in the middle of a burning home (with your children all beside you of course)and blaming the firemen? Blaming the city officials where the building's located? omg omg...

The significance of Xenon isotope ratios in the Fukushima catastrophe
Chris Busby PhD 5th November 2011
Recently, measurements were reported for Xenon and other radio nuclides in the environment of the Fukushima reactors. A copy of the handout of TEPCO press conference is available here:http://www.tepco.co.jp/nu/fukushima-np/images/handouts_111102_01-j.pdf
It shows:
Kr-85 4.4 x 10E-1 Bq/cm3
Xe-131m 6.9 x 10E-4 Bq/cm3
Xe-133 1.4 x 10E-5 Bq/cm3
Xe-135 1.2 x 10E-5 Bq/cm3
Because nuclear fission processes create a range of radioactive products and because these nuclides have different half lives, it is possible to employ ratios of certain nuclides to show whether fission is occurring and also whether the fission is from a relatively slow controlled process or from an explosive criticality (a bomb or nuclear explosion) where the production rates are much higher. The method was employed recently to show that the Chernobyl reactor accident was caused by a nuclear explosion and not a hydrogen explosion. There is no doubt about this, the Xenonisotope ratios measured in St Petersburg shortly after the plume arrived there made it clear that there was a nuclear explosion.
Similar questions arise in the case of the Fukushima explosions, especially that in Reactor 3, and I have already explained elsewhere that I believe that a prompt criticality may have been involved there.
