Lamp / Shade (art nouveau)

Postby Coligny » Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:19 pm

I'm searching for these kind of lamp:

Image

Or anything with stained glass, art nouveau style. Have yet to find anything good...

There was an awesome shop in saigon full of these marvels... But the smallest bedside lamp was more than 500 USD... Which is a bit excessive...

Any link to evilbay/rakuten/kakaku/brick and mortar shop for this ?

(not the princess bedroom/crystal style crap, h4rdcore art-nouveau stuff Kyosato style...)

Thanks... (but honestly, the interwab should never allow urls to include katakana, hiragana, or any non ascii characters in urls)

Double-byte racist!!!

(I have no problems with it personally. As I found some programming etc. things easier actually in double byte. Also a major fan of UTF-8.)

As much as I want to point and laugh at Coligny's attempts at making his bunker's interior resemble something like the church lady's house from SNL....after I moved, I was on a similar hunt for a wooden floor lamp and ended up with something this.

Added a natural light LED and it's great for setting that rustic mood and encouraging mating behavior in the lemurs.

There is a store in Harajuku I've yet to go into but will when I move. They've got a lot of "groovy" looking lamps. I'm sure they're overpriced. It's not in the "cool" part of town... I pass by on my way to Sendagaya.

Firefox automatically encodes double byte URLs when you copy from the address bar. They work anywhere but of course you can't read what they say.

On a different note, I think Coligny better hand in his man card if he's out shopping for lamps like that. :p

The next "Western" antiques auction is around Feb 20. You'll find a tsunami of art nouveau lamps by French makers, and maybe a couple of Tiffany lamps as well, though they can go for a million yen or more. In general, prices have been going doooowwwnn, and Mainichi charges a 15% buyer's premium like Drouot instead of the usual Christies/Sothebys 30%.

Why would his questions about lamps raise any suspicions at all? We all know who calls the shots at his house...

Yes, I am quite certain It was from the Kakaku shop.

(adding a 1% of uncertainty, because me July did all the ordering... and she is a master a complicating and randomizing to the extreme any process... I am quite surprised to actually have received a lamp that look identical to the one I choosed and not a stainless steel industrial size slaughterhouse sink)

They also had quite some kick ass furniture...
