Leaving China for...Japan???

I'm an American, 39, and former resident of Japan (7+ yrs) who's been in China the last 8 yrs. Sadly, I accidentally overstayed my visa and have a month until I have to go. I now agree that "it's no fun being an illegal alien."

Sooooo, now I'm looking for any job opportunities in Japan. I'm comfortable in Japanese (I pay the bills as a technical translator) and highly conversant in Chinese. I've haven't had to job hunt in 11 years or so, so I'm more than out of practice.

Any suggestions? At this point I'm not choosy about where I'd live (lived in pre-meltdown Fukushima for 2 yrs and Tokyo for 5) and since I'm unmarried I can relocate anywhere. Obviously, I'll have to find a cheap short-stay place first until I've saved up enough to rent better.

Any ideas or suggestions, I'm all ears...

Well...as long as you don't bring your Chinese prejudice over here, I see no problem.

Good point McTurkey. Let's see, Rape of Nanking, kidnapping to brothels, medical research on living human guinea pigs, etc.
I think you're right on. Japan would definitely not want that kind of prejudice here. They can't even handle it when it is just mentioned....
