I was fearing something MUCH MUCH MUCH worse coming from nextmedia with their usual CGI-video reconstruction...

News reports in Taiwan media have ID's the perp as a 31 year old Romeo from Taiwan, a Taiwanese bloke, who had the hots for one of the women, but she was rebuffing him. When he was 2o , he was arrested in Taiwan for allegedly buying sex online from an underage girl. His name is Mr Chang, his photo has been pubbed in the tabloid papers in Taiwan. It was apparently a crime of passion, and according to crime sources, he will be tried AND PUT TO DEATH in Japan, since Japan and Taiwan do not manintain diplomatic relations in this age of ONE CHINA crap. So Mr Chang will be jailed, tried and sentenced to death in Tokyo, a couple of years in Kosuge Detention Center in Tora-san's old hometown of Shibamnatra, I guess. Poor guy. He let his prick get the better of him and know he's got to pay the Devil. Rot in Buddhist and Taoist hell forever.

I had an idea this might be the case, as there have been similar incidents in NZ also involving Taiwanese/Chinese students.

He was bound to go that way, suicide is painless and all that jazz. Too bad, though, that he could not have stayed around to at least explain the motivation for the murders to the grieving parents in Taiwan Prefecture. There are still so many unanswered questions.

But gone with the wind now, dust to dust, the evil man goes to Hell. The poor innocent women rise to Heaven. Life is so cruel in so many ways, especially for the parents and grandparents and brothers and sisters of the murdered women, who must live with this assault all their lives now.

And not to mention poor Mr Chang, the father of Killer Chang, who must also
ask himself why why why for the rest of his life!

PS: CHANG THE KILLER WAS INTO SLITTING THROATS, WASN'T HE? IS THERE A MEME HERE? Did he read lots of throat slit books as a kid in Taiwan, manga?

Fairly negligent on the part of the police. The suspect used the knife on himself but could just as easily have turned on the them instead.

good ol' japanese police work... turn down a man on the run for over a decade... not to mention why he was on the run... but he was turned down.

now an un-cuffed, knife wielding guy is in the back of a police car.. was it the type that has a barrier between the person in the back and in the front? it didn't matter apparently cause he cut himself when he GOT OUT and not the jackass(es) driving him to the police station...

Stabbing yourself and then bleeding out is pretty hard to do. You would have to cut pretty deep to get to the artery.

If he had treatment straight away it is unlikely that he would have bled out.

Did the coppers just watch him die on the floor? Methinks there is some information that hasn't been released.

I was watching Sukkiri this morning while getting ready for work and they said he was in the back seat sitting between two officers with two more in the front. The cops said that since he wasn't arrested he wasn't cuffed and that they did check his bag for anything dangerous but found nothing. Apparently he used a paring knife to do it. I tend to agree with GG that it would be tough to slit your own throat with a paring knife and bleed to death without the 4 officers wrestling you down and stopping you but if he got his jugular or something it's not that hard to imagine.

I do find it absolutely amazing that the cops were so negligent. BTW, the commentators on Sukkuri actually said shoganai. Shoganai!? You gotta be fucking kidding me.

the japanese guy who was sent to an LA prison hung himself in his cell was not a shoganai... wonder why this was...

I think you mean "hanged".

If he "hung" himself, that would be impressive. ;)

CHINA POST: Unrequited love is believed to be Chang's motive....... Lin had been complaining about Chang since December last year, according to a police source and Lin's friends in Japan, who did not elaborate.

According to Lin's friends in Taiwan, however, the man had also been romantically involved with a young man — who is now in Taichung performing his military service — for three years. ''
