I'd like to say this is probably some kind of conspiracy and the cops killed him. However, it was probably just the case of Japan's pussy-ass cops shitting their pants and being frozen with fear when they saw the knife.

when i was getting trained how to search people... the first thing you do is ask if they have anything sharp or if anything in their pockets would poke me... but it seems that the Japanese search procedure is a quick eyeball to see if the person has a katana or rifle on them then tell them to get in the car.
