New Tatamize

Ugh, don't get me started on this shit. One tatami room in the house I can live with but any more than that and it's time for some remodeling. BTW, gotta love how the sizes differ by region and in many cases by mat.

I just hate how careful you have to be with them. Same with that fake wood "cushion flooring" shit. (actually, the cushion flooring is worse) Shit gets messed up really fast!

The only benefit is when you have butter fingers...

In Nagoya the flat had tatami or humide wood floor... We drop cups, plate glasses... most of the time they just bounced back in our hands...

Here... With the bombproof concrete... Drop a cup... see the explosion into thousand of shrapnells...

Remote controls: same problems... plastic bits everywhere...

I find Tatami perfect for the bed room. Very nice underground for Futons.
For the rest of the home, nope, not needed.

Back when we had a framed bed... on tatamis it was ridiculously unstable...

Had to put 50x50cm wood plates under the feets to stabilize... bump at night and rot under... FUCK YOU JAPAN...

I can't sleep on anything harder than marshmallows... and also have special requirement for the pillows... (2, feather duck, one big softer and one medium harder, plus 1 ergonomical monoblock memory foam for when I have to sleep on my back -case of big migrena-). This or direct concrete. I usually rock one under my head and second one between my legs as I usually sleep on my side...of course a warm lemur is welcome to replace the second one

I have to deal with 2 cats, the old one cuddling up, have to wrap my arm around her, over her hip but below her front paws so she can rest her chin on my hand. The young one sleep under the cover behind my knees...

That is until they take their weee break around 2... after it's game on for who goes where...
