I don't recall if they are in part or wholly owned by Toyota or not, but they do supply parts to Toyota. I used to teach some biz English classes there back in my Nagoya days.

Denso became a bit famous with the unintended Prius acceleration pseudo syndrome. Throttle for the japanese Prius were made by Denso, while the amerikun one were made by Bubba in a shed somewhere in Ohio...
