I took my car's door at the driver's side apart a couple of weeks ago to repair the regulator of the power window. Just when the whole family started wondering how I would ever get that back together, I got the inspiration to look at the motor's brushes. And yeahhhh, I got it working again!

There are stuff that I actually love with the cheapness of Nissans. 1- I you break something, usually the part is in the price range of a medium size bottle of ketchup. 2- Most stuff is just snap-fit and can be removed by naked hand or at worse with nylon trim removers.

When we bought it I joked to me Dj00ly telling her I could certainly take appart and put it back together overnight...

Few weeks after I had to change my prediction...
I could effectively certainly take it appart and put it together overnight... and more than half the process would not even require any tools...

NOW if they could stop sourcing most electrical stuff from Hitachi, that would be a big improvment. (air intake regulator crapped on us after 1.5 years... made by Hitachi) (alternator is starting to crap on us... made by Hitachi...)

this was few year after on of his front doors windows exploded because the limit switch for the powerwindow were defective -there was a worlwide recall for this problem-.

Holy shit, that would be hilarious to see but horrible to have happen personally. Damn...

He got a Prius now... 5 years, no problems...

Yeah, but he's had to drive around in a Prius for 5 years. As exciting to drive as a sponge and ugly as hell.

On a sidenote... I was really tempted by the Subaru Outback... but between the design getting far worse than a toilet seat, the ownership by Totoya (mind you, before that, Subaru was French... property of Renault, they sold them before buying Nissan) and all the nightmares you always report... I'll pass on that (bad luck... at least she was available in red...)

I love the car but Subaru's service has not impressed. I think I'm going to buy one of your favorite krauters next time around (perhaps an M3) so maybe I should just get used to shitty service...

Regarding Subaru's ownership history, I don't think Renault was an owner. Nissan used to own 20% of Subaru but that was sold to GM when Renault bought Nissan. GM later sold about half of that share to Toyota and the other half on the open market. Unsurprisingly Subaru's have gotten a helluva lot less interesting since the Toyota buy, you can't tell a Legacy from a Toyota at a distance now. Toyota needs to fire their entire design division and start from scratch.

yeah i understood the level of the disaster when he borrowed the Note and told us it was a quick car... 1.5l engine with a dreadfull cvt... it's an awesome motorized shopping trolley... but even calling it a car is a bit of a stretch...

From what i remember (badly) Subaru sort of played the matchmaker between Renault and Nissan. But I totally agree the design of the new imprezza and legacy are criminally close to your run of the mill Toyota whatever... I've drunk bottled water that had more personality than their cars...

I did like the Subaru concept better than the production model...but the same can be said for the Toyota Concepts....

Sure, but imagine what could have resulted if Subaru had partnered with a car company that actually knows how to build fun cars and do automotive design.

Yeah, Renault could sure have helped when Patrick le Quement was still head of design...

But they are working (for good this time it seems) on the revival of the Alpine brand...







Having to fill the shoes of hte 1970' Alpine A110 Berlinette is sort of a big job...



I just hope that the new design chief (Van Den Acker) will stop making all new Renault look like previous generation Mazdas... (while the new Mazdas have quite improved since he's gone...)
