I aint no navul expert... And I guess life at sea get a bit rough. But I hugely doubt that a ship can degrade that badly in barely a year. For the below water part, the lack of electrical protection can certainly fuck it real good.. But so much rust on the shiny side... no way...

Most likely it got beat up and gouged real good during the tsunami such that the paint that would normally protect it was scraped down to the metal and with no upkeep in a year, yeah, it'd rust pretty bad because salt water is corrosive as all get out.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
