Seing the pictures of the wrench monkeys working on it the previous day... I'm surprised it managed to clear the launch pad before going kaboom...

Can start to bet what they will blame:

Sabotage

hungry engineers

the spirit of kim jong Ill

my mum

an earthquake weapon used by the americans, made with stolen alien technology

You've at least got to give the North Koreans for having the tremendous ability to introduce the concept of premature ejaculation to global brinksmanship...

And to the Noda administration for using this non-event as a smokescreen for the increased income taxes, sales taxes, and power costs...

Along that line, let's not forget the boon this has been for the dearly sought-after rescusitation of military respectability and always widely welcomed ultra-nationalism.

I'm pretty sure the guys from paypal's team can have at least 3 meals a day, unlimited snacks and when they see a puppy they think of it as a gift for their kids and not how to cook it.

The worst that could happen is that some nuclear contamination blows over to Japan, which is of course unacceptable... :roll3:

Anyway, at least Tepco generates some electricity. That is not the strongest point of the nuclear program (or of any program to begin with) in the Great Leader's paradise.

Blown launch might be followed by nuclear test, internal strife, purge

North Korea's failed missile launch Friday could trigger a major internal dispute and political instability in the country, making Japan's dealings with the impoverished nation even more difficult, experts said Friday.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un could even escalate diplomatic tactics by conducting a nuclear test to make up for Friday's humiliation, analysts said.

[...]

Lee Young Hwa, an economics professor at Kansai University and an expert on North Korea, said he expects Pyongyang to either launch another missile (:wall:) or conduct a nuclear test after a severe power struggle takes place among the various factions.

Experts believe the regime is made up of various groups ranging from moderates to militaristic hardliners.

"The Kim Jong Un regime has just begun, but the failure (of the launch) suggests the direction in which his leadership is going to head. A large-scale purge will take place with (people) being blamed for disgracing the leader," Lee told The Japan Times.

"When North Korea failed at currency denomination, many people were purged. I believe the number will be higher this time."

Moarrrr...

Can't we export some guillotines to the Great Paradise?!? Or does that fall under the boycott of High-Tech goods?

They admit the launch failed because they correctly assume that the US used covert tactics to ensure the project never got off the ground.

J-Alert was 40 minutes late "detecting" the launch. Sounds about right on par with local levels of alertness.
