The 86 is bigger, more spacious, safer, lighter, and faster than a Miata yet still gets better gas mileage.

And the RC model is less than 2,000,000.

There are a lot better cars for the track that you can get for 4 mil than a Miata. You can get a used race car. Or a tuned car with 500+ HP.

(managed to unclip it from both side once on a speed bump... while doing a glorious 30kph... but wanted to go slower and braked at the precise wrong moment)

No turbo.

I quoted bhp (brake horsepower), but even the wheel horsepower of the ol' Z4 2.5i is 184 (@ 6,000 rpm). The engine is a straight 6, not a V.

It seems like V6 engines are less efficient or something. Something around 160 bhp seems to be pretty normal for a 2.5 liter V6. The straight 6 in the Z4 does a lot better for some reason.

Track only? Pussy!

I've seen two of these on the road in the last couple of months. Passed a very cool looking yellow one on Sunday, in fact.

Fuck yeah... guilty as charged... have you seen them stopped beside the usual monster trucks on the local road ? They would not even notice they run you over...

THIS...would be all over the RC model if I didn't know a turbo version was in the works.

There are a few things I'd want if I got an RC though. The HID lights, a TRD bumper, the GT full-scale speedometer, sport pedals, some of the trim... but all the money you save could be spent on options like A/C, audio... their is an option for a motorsports recorder for video and data logging which looks nice.

You also have to wonder which options will make or break a deal with it's resale value. Historically for sports cars the *lack* of a T-bar or sunroof has made sports cars more valuable to collectors.

FFSake... we're in 2012 and HID lights are still not standards...

Still overwhelmed with joy every evening from my 9000yens H4 HID upgrade kit from China... NO WAY i could go back to halogen lights...

EDIT: with the RC you might want to buy some wheels too... unless you really like the russian utilitarian style of the iron wheels without even a plastic faceplate...

Yeah, the RC lacks alot but what you save on price can be spent on those items of your preference. I'd probably opt for the HID headlights, suspension, wheels, audio and get the unpainted parts sprayed off the bat.

I'd go for vinyl covering... much easier to renew... and unless you spray paint by yourself much cheaper...

I would get Enkei RPF1s and put snow tires on the steel wheels.

The from bumper on the RC is unpainted because it's for people who are going to get body kits or race-modify the car anyway. I think. The TRD kit is epic.

I would get an aftermarket LSD with the money saved from not having the factory option, and probably some aftermarket coilovers.

The muffler would be gone too since it made a pretty boring sound.

Need to go all ADD on it and replace every nut and bolt in it with titanium ones ;) not very cost effective but will lose a decent amount of weight :D

Who said it was RWD? They kept the mounting points the same as previous EJ engines and it shares the same buckets of spare parts, not too far of a reach to think they can shoehorn the whole drivetrain in there.

Ok, but we are really quick reaching the point were the RC should not even exist and the whole thing should instead be sold as a kit car...

And that would be the most awesome kitcar on the planet BTW...

Or you could just buy the Impreza to start with and save a whole lot of time and trouble.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

If you wanted something bigger, heavier, and with 4 doors, that's certainly an option. ;)

AWD would add a lot of weight to the 86 too.
