I find it interesting that they managed to weave in a subtle anti-gaijin message along with their pop science explanation. After all, it was McDonald's food that was at the root of these girls' problems. Sure, blame Japan's social ills on Western fast food, i.e. gaijin influence.

The other thing is that Japan is hooked on food--it seems like 90% of the TV shows are about cooking, or sampling regional cuisines, or dietary/nutrition issues. Weird. The logic here is: eat Japanese food and you'll be more in control of your actions; eat Western food and you turn into a crazed nymphomaniac.
